   About Matthew Dorko
I have been writing and playing music since the age of eleven. My first performance experiences were on the streets of Cambridge, Ma and in the French Quarter in New Orleans. My first love was songwriting, but at a certain point my father suggested that I try out for an arts school, where i could actually study music for half the day, during high school. I was introduced to the Jazz idiom at the New Orleans Center For The Creative Arts, under the expert guidance of The extremely patient Ellis Marsallis, who enjoyed referring to me as "Cowboy Bob". later, I was fortunate to be in the Jazz studies program he established at the University of New Orleans. Since returning to The Boston area in the early nineties I have been Playing in restaurants and clubs and private functions around New England while maintaining a brisk schedule of private students. I owe these students a debt of gratitude... i have learned so much from working with them. in 2008 I am planning to focus more on performance, especially with my vocal material, which has been neglected for the last few years. If you like the material that i have posted here, please check back, as i expect to have it ready for download soon. Thanks for visiting, and please feel free to drop a note if you have questions or suggestions, or just want to say hi! -Matthew

Matthew-

Great playing and songwriting. "Black and Blue" is wonderful... it has a dark quality without being too heavy. Best wishes,

Steve
