Having returned an hour ago from attending the advance 8.00pm screening of 'The Dark Knight' for which I paid upwards of four additional quid to assuage my near manic anticipation, I am left with a daunting decision:
Do I continue in my examination of concepts of consciousness among self-aware characters in meta-dramatiic literature...the thought whereof doth like a poison mineral gnaw my inwards (Iago; 'Othello')...ah, what once inspired my intellect and soul now feels as though I'm slightly bastardizing myself whenever recited.
['What's your field of study'...'Oh, I'm examining concepts of independent consciousness among fictional character....']
Or...OR!...I could redirect focus and make the concentration of my dissertation a psychological analysis in defense of The Joker's pathology actually representing a state of hyper-sanity. Apparently collegiate level psychology courses are being taught on the subject of Batman...this according to my younger brother.
This may well serve as a worthwhile weekend's project for select members of Team Awesome:
Featured on the 'Hamlet 2' website (conveniently www. Hamelt2. com) is a competition which offers a pre-screening of 'Hamlet 2' to the selected user-made video of 'Rock Me Sexy Jesus'. Available on the site in a downloadable ZIP file that includes lyrics, sheet music, and karaoke track.
This being the 'official' video featured on the site:
The selected recipient of the competition's grand prize and 100 of his or her choice friends will be given a private screening and thus far the five submitted videos are paltry at best.
If for no other reason, I downloaded the available batch for the karaoke track. Thank you for the recommendation, it will offset what I thought to be the inevitable post-Dark Knight doldrums I expected to suffer.
Then again, it occurs to me that a minutes is, indeed, a long time:
Since having first seen 'Yellow Submarine' many minutes ago, that has ever struck me as a comforting (and absolutely brilliantly illustrated) truth. May you've many minutes of inspired madness to come.
Warm Regards, Love, Karma, and Best of Birthday Wishes, Dr.
ps. That is one of this most beautiful car crashes of Myspace wallpaper I have yet to see.
In speaking to Khnemu during a marathon conversation this past eve we eventually arrived on the topic of our having aged to a near unfathomable degree. Mind you, you've a good four years on me and it may seem ridiculous for either of us to complain being that we're far from decrepit, but at what point do we lapse from qualifying as being among the good that die young?
I've found myself doing this with films as late, but to lend the passage of time a horrifyingly sobering perspective, consider this: 'Rent' debuted on Broadway in 1996 (years before shat on by C. Columbus), which seems an abstract figure before one considers thats being more than a decade ago. I laboured to some extent, as I'm want to do, over what birthday offering it was to be this year and while this seems a somewhat obvious choice, consider it more in terms of being upwards of 5,252,000 minutes and counting:
