What happens when a little girl whose Dad listened to the Beatles & Rolling Stones, and Mom listened to John Denver & Barbara Streisand, spends her teenage years performing in musical theater, and college years in a jam band, then is ready to do her own thing??? You get Mary Arden Collins, an artist who takes passion, love, sensuality, spirituality and chaos, chews them up and spits them out into musical reflections of life!
Named after Shakespeare's mother and the artisan town of Arden, Delaware in which she was born, Mary's musical cravings took her from the small town to the big city. Now residing in Los Angeles, she has been busy with her new music project, ARDEN of EDEN with Mark Gorman, writing and recording songs featured in television ("Joan of Arcadia" & "Criminal Minds") and movies ("The Thing About My Folks" & "Solstice"). California living seems to agree with the blue-eyed brunette. In her spare time, she lends her voice to the sanscrit chanting world, hula hooping and loves hiking in nature with her dog, Groovy. (And yes, there is beautiful nature in Los Angeles!)
The strong desire to affect people's lives in a positive way has always been a part of her world. While friends spent summer break at the beach, Mary volunteered many years for United Cerebral Palsy Camp Manito, attended by her brother (and number 1 fan) Pete, who was born with Spina Bifida. Today, Mary is actively involved in environmental and humanitarian causes. She donates a portion of all CD sales to organizations that spawn positive change.
Mary combines the honesty of John Mayer, the passion of Ani DiFranco and the pipes of Kelly Clarkson.
Love your new CD! Now let me get this straight you are going to do the release in Arden? Is there no hugging booth here in LA? I was getting all juiced up!
I quite frequently do and saw you have a DE date coming in September. :) I'll be there! The Arden Club sounds pretty neat from the website too, I never been there.
