About me: I make movies. I associate produced a film called THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS last year, and now it's done! Check out the trailer ...
I direct stuff every now and then. Here's a film I wrote and directed for the Boston 48 Hour Film Project called ONE MINUTE WITH ME:
And I try to act from time to time, too. A student of mine asked me to act in his short film, so I did ... it's called AMERICAN FAMILY:
So anyway, I'm Marty. I'm also "The Beast," a nickname I got after I ate six servings of dinner one night at UConn. Since I'm really tall, the nickname stuck. It's since morphed into nicknames like Beastly, Beastie Boy, things like that. But Beast is the name I respond to. (It's a term of endearment, I promise.)
I went to film school at Florida State for two years, and then came right back home. I teach film classes at Quinnipiac University, and I also produce independent films that shoot here in Connecticut.
I've produced three indies in the last couple years. I co-produced a comedy called BEING MICHAEL MADSEN, starring Michael Madsen, Virginia Madsen, Daryl Hannah, David Carradine, Lacey Chabert and Paige Davis. (Seriously. I did. And it was awesome.) I associate produced a supernatural drama called THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS, whose trailer you can see on this page, and I produced a vampire thriller called FOG WARNING as well.
I'm also writing a few movies. Right now, I'm writing a comedy about a guy trying to start up a comic book shop, while dealing with a leech best friend, crazy mother and new girlfriend, called 18 MONTHS. Two friends and I are working on a horror script based on the short stories of H.P. Lovecraft. We also wrote a hitwoman comedy called THE FLOWER JOB, which is kind of a mix between MR. AND MRS. SMITH and OFFICE SPACE.
Hmm, what else about me ... I'm a huge basketball fan; I love the UConn Huskies, Boston Celtics, and Connecticut Sun. I used to play in high school and college, and I try to play a little now. (Even though I seem to get hurt EVERY TIME I PLAY.) I love to travel, even though I haven't done very much of it lately. When I was younger, I used to go all over the country, sometimes on a day's notice, and it was a blast. I need to do more of that, I think. And I love dogs, especially pugs. Anything else ya wanna know, just ask.
Who I'd like to meet: Trent Reznor, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Johnny Depp, Stephen Hawking, Maynard James Keenan, Robert Rodriguez
4 star sports city WITH real casinos. What could be better than that?!? :P
I ventured up to Michigan wine country last weekend. It was AMAZING. There are ~15 vineyards and the scenery was just picturesque. Definitely worth adding to the list of must see places.
How's Mr. Lang these days? Have you released the movie with the Lost chic yet?
Hiya Marty! I saw you're online and had to stop by for a shout out. I've been thinking about you recently. I just bought a Mac from a FSU film school student, and in meeting with him, the sleepless eyes and shocked delirium allowed me to revisit the joys of finally finishing the production phase of graduate thesis films! Ha! I hope all's well in your world.
