Brad and Chloe's Blurbs |
About me:
This is Brad and Chloe and we are supporting Marti Emerald's campaign for San Diego City Council. We are both teenagers in the 7th district and we would like to share our intrest in voting with other teenagers around San Diego. We would like to encourage seniors in high school to take part in the upcoming 2008 elections and expand their political knowledge. We recently met City Council Candidate Marti Emerald at the Registrar of Voters office and gained valuable knowledge about voting that we would like to share with young adults. Being a responisble citizen by voting can be fun and influential at the same time. We hope to show you the difference you can make in society by voting and staying politically aware!

Tierrasanta teens take a walk around the Registrar of Voters Office

Welcome to Election Central.
There are more parties to register to than just the Deomcrats and Republicans. You can register to a certain party and cast your vote to whatever party you would like. Only in primary elections does the party you register matter. California has closed primaries meaning if you a re Democrat you can only vote for a Democrat. Here are some of the general stances some political party's take on issues that pertain to us teens:
Democrats:
1. Abortion - For (but should be used sparingly)
2. Affirmative Action (Colleges must accept a certain number of individuals from each race in order to ensure they are diverse) - For
3. Small government (less taxes) - Against
4. Big military - Against
5. Gay marriage - For
6. Government involvement in Business - For
Republicans:
1. Abortion - Against
2. Affirmative Action - Against
3. Samll Government - For
4. Big Military - For
5. Gay Marriage - Against
6. Government Involvement in Business - Against
It may seem as if Republicans and Democrats don't agree on anything, however there still is a lot of common ground. They both want to improve America but just have different ways of achieving it. Here are some Third parties that offer a different choice if you don't completely agree with either of these two parties.
Libertarian Party: Believe in less government all around including social and economic issues.
Populist Party: Believe in more government all around.
Green Party: Take the environment into account on issues; more so than most of the other political parties.
