Born in Voorschooten, Netherlands, Markus Apitius is a Cologne-based
musician and producer, playing and recording his own songs as well as writing
film and theatre music.
As a singer, guitar & bass player and keyboarder he was involved with bands
too numerous to mention, be they 'new wave', progressive, hard rock, folk, singer-songwriter,
experimental or 'a capella' groups.
In 1994 he released his first solo EP, the 5-track EP 'Warm
& Wild', of which the song 'Paris
In My Heart' is still a mainstay on stage.
After ten years of working with several bands, he decided to go solo again
in 2005 with his album 'In
God's Machine':
'Depending on your point of view, his songs are outdated or timeless. ... He
creates moods which remind me of Americana as well as folk as well as U2 or
Crowded House, or of Leonard Cohen or Billy Joel, ... sometimes even of Rutherford
and Hackett as they dive into a mid-seventies Genesis record...'
(Visions
1/2006)
In 2007 he followed up with the release of 'Los
Angeles', for which legendary music photographer from New York, George
DuBose provided the cover photography:
'...pop between madness and genius ... touching and simply grandiose...' (plattentests.de)
Markus is currently working on a new album. An early mix of the song "Shipwrecked"
can be downloaded here.

Thank you so much for being there and lending your voice to Troubadour. Your second song was truly inspirational and your voice was amazing. You really made some fans with that one.!
