Dan Helman's love of bluegrass music originated from hearing it played and sung around him all throughout his childhood and teenage years. His father Dave Helman, who originally hails from West Virginia, has an old-time country and bluegrass radio show and hosts a winter bluegrass concert series near their hometown of Granby, Massachusetts. The nut didn’t fall too far from the tree…
In February of 2002 Dan and his father Dave met Mary Ann Donze when they were all asked to join a gospel bluegrass group that was forming. It was here that Dan and Mary Ann quickly found themselves to be musically like-minded. They rounded up two more instruments, and they’ve been playing as a band since 2004.
hey Dan, isn't that just perfect ? :) hope your show last night was great ~ (sorry, but I went to see the other Dan, ;) give my best to everyone, hope to see you soon ~Julie
