ABOUT MARK FARINA I look at my job as a modern day traveling minstrel, to bring new music to as many places as I can, and expose obscure records that, otherwise, might go hidden.
LANDMARK ‘LIVE IN TOKYO’ RECORDING BY DANCE MUSIC LEGEND MARK FARINA ONE LEGEND ONE NIGHT LIVE UNEDITED
Like the lines of a 50’s car, they just don’t make DJ’s like they used to. Case in point is legendary Om mainstay Mark Farina. Long heralded as one of the top DJ’s in the world, Farina stands as one of the most innovative selectors of the past two decades.
His story is well known amongst dance music’s faithful underground. Cutting his chops in Chicago and San Francisco alongside his brother from another mother, Derrick Carter, the two released their seminal first ‘Live at Om’ double disc on Om Records in 2004.
Recorded Live in one take at the Om:Tokyo showcase, Mark Farina’s ‘Live from Tokyo’is his most inspiring release to date!
“Every once in a while, an entire genre of music can be defined by the tastes and technique of the selector who somehow understands it better than anyone else. Such is the sort of success that San Francisco – based DJ/producer Mark Farina has achieved for himself since starting off as a record collector and dedicated beatfreak in the house mecca of Chicago.” – DJ TIMES
