Influences
Sounds Like
We like to think that we have our own unique sound and I personally hate pigeon holes. EVERY musician sounds different if you listen hard so it is the differences rather than similarities that I would like to point out. A lot of my playing was recorded on a Bosendorfer piano which has its own unique sound. That coupled with my own style of phrasing and chord voicing gives me a sound of my own although one reviewer wrote that you can hear "traces of Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett" in my playing. Sean also has his own sound on the six string bass. Having no frets also gives the instrument a unique sound and as a self taught musician, he has his own way of phrasing the notes. Andy also has is own style of guitar playing although you may hear traces of Wes Montgomery and Jim Hall in the way he builds his chords and solos. The three of us together have a unique blend of interacting and retaining individual sound that can only come with having grown up together, practiced and recorded together over a period of 25 or more years.
Influeces are: Charles Mingus, Steve Swallow, Carla Bley, Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Chick Corea, Return to Forever, Bill Evans, Sun Ra, Oscar Peterson, Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Marion McPartland, Jim Hall/Bill Evans duo, Jon Stewart and The Daily Show, Herbie Hancock, The Jazz Poll Winners, John Abercrombie, Eddie Gomez, Pink Floyd.

About Marilynn Seits & The Vibrations Jazz Ensemble
Brand New CD release: WHY KATRINA WHY. Listen to the MP3 & read more about it on other parts of this page & in the blog.
Marilynn Seits and The Vibrations Jazz Ensemble, is a family enterprise with Mom Marilynn on piano and electric keyboards and two sons Andy McAusland (guitar/vocals) and Sean McAusland (bass). Also playing with the band are either Rod Parker or Sy Pryweller on drums. Marilynn, Andrew and Sean have been playing together for a long time although in their young teens Andy played drums and Sean played guitar. They have since switched instruments with Andy finding his home instrument on guitar (steel pedal, acoustic, 12 string and electric) and Sean plays both 4 and 6 string bass as well as mandolin.
The Vibrations Jazz Ensemble plays mostly original music with an occasional cover tune by Miles Davis, Charles Mingus or Steve Swallow. Marilynn has written most of the instrumental tunes and Andy wrote most of the vocals. Sean has also written music for his other blue grass/country band The Brothers McAusland.
Home base for the band was West Palm Beach for many years where Marilynn had a 48 track recording studio, Creative Music Recordings Inc. This is where the band rehearsed and recorded all their music. In 2006, Marilynn moved back to New York City, Sean moved to Asheville, NC and Andy moved to downtown West Palm Beach. Today with the wonders of technology, the band recently completed a new jazz CD of music written by Hal Abercrombie with Marilynn, Andy and Sy Pryweller recording in West Palm Beach and Sean adding bass tracks in Asheville. The CD, WHY KATRINA WHY was released in October of 2007 and is available from several distributors and CMR Records, inc.
All of Marilynn's, Sean's and Andrew's CDs are available on iTunes, cmrrecords.com, CDBaby.com, The Orchard, SnoCap and New Leaf Distributors. Go to http://cdbaby.com/all/cmr for the CD Baby page.

I'm just checking in! We should get some tea sometime!
I will be playing some shows soon....and will let you know the dates! The only one I know for sure right now is Sunday June 29th 9pm at The 169 Bar. Right off the F train.
I'm just stopping by to let you know that I just put up a new slide show of pictures from my last trip to Tahiti and Bora Bora. (I had a gig there for two weeks in October.) It's just what you need to perk you up during bad weather.
Lots of pictures of sunshine, flowers, and tropical fish. I got a new digital camera that takes pictures underwater. It wasn't expensive, but it sure takes good pictures.
Just stopping by to send you some love and let you know that my song “Sway” has just been nominated for a Los Angeles Music Award under the category “Latin, Female Vocal.”
I’d love it if you’d stop by to say hello and listen to my song.
