Karloz.M started working on music in 1998 mainly using tape-to-tape experimentation. That same year a friend heard some recordings and urged him to get a computer. In 1999 Karloz.M began working on his very first computer produced material, mainly working on beats, that he could use on his DJ nights. Friend DJ Hana-Solo in Seattle heard some of these beats and told him to work on a fully constructed track with all the nuts and bolts. After listening to some of the very first 1999 demo tracks, DJ Hana-Solo and his friend Scott Sturgis of Converter and Pain Station fame told Karloz to keep writing and to fully pursue a music outlet. The result was the birth of Manufactura in the fall of 2000. Scott Sturgis and Karloz.M decided to create a small label together where they could release their material without any "label bullshit". Early 2001 saw the birth of the label Auricle Media and the release of Manufactura's debut CD titled "Regression".
Since the release of the Debut CD for Manufactura, Karloz.M has been working non-stop on remixes for many artists with in the powernoise, EBM, synthpop, Industrial genres such as Converter, Combichrist, Terrorfakt, Haujobb, Sonar, E-craft, Aghast View and many more. He's done album production work for artists such as Glis, Sister Machine Gun and Violent Entity. Designed CD covers and logos for Glis, Violent Entity, And Christ Wept, C/A/T, Consume, CTC, as well as his own projects Manufactura and Broken Fabiola.
As co-founder with Scott Sturgis and operator of Auricle Media, Karloz.M released the work of Notime (Converter side project) as well as his own side projects. Collaborations with Canada's sub-session records saw the release of the compilation "Re:Sound". Most recently a collaboration with Crunch Pod records resulted in the debut release of Canadian artist urusai.
In the past 6 years, Manufactura has performed across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With such notable bands as Converter, Sonar, Haujobb, Hocico, Combichrist, Terrorfakt, Sister Machine Gun, Glis, Imperative Reaction, Assemblage 23, Babyland, Synapscape, SMP and many, many more.
After several special limited releases and the first 2 albums now out of print, 2005 marks the release of "Presence: into the here and the now" as the 3rd and newest album by Manufactura. It is the continuation of a journey that began five years earlier with "Regression", and was continued through with "Precognitive Dissonance". However the path through insanity and madness has reached a major fork in the road, and rather then choosing one road over the other, Manufactura instead chose to just destroy all of the roads and rebuild a new path of self destruction, hatred, madness and pain.
On October 31st 2006 the now infamous, influential and unpredictable project known as Manufactura released his 4th album "we're set silently on fire". With the success of his prior trilogy styled albums, Manufactura's Karloz .M paved a way in blending sounds, and genres not often heard in what is known today as industrial music. To this day many DJ's, clubs and fans have trouble classifying or labeling Manufactura to any one category. Nevertheless Manufactura has conquered many dance floors and fans through out the world. With the new album, "We're set silently on fire" he gives us even more new sounds of heavy, hard and emotional work to devour. The Album Features 14 tracks of hatred, violence, loss, betrayal, melancholy and pure unadulterated madness. Including a rendition of a song made famous by Bjork. Forget what you've heard before and be prepared to be set on fire.
Winter of 2007 sees the release of Manufactura's new EP "In The Company Of Wolves", a commentary on the passage from sanity to madness and the life we throw away as we make that transition. It is a series of dream sequences that cover the many ways a man becomes a monster while the reality of the world around him slowly rips him into pieces. Several new tracks are showcased while The majority of the tracks are moody & devastating reworks and remixes of original & previous material by Manufactura and very special guest remixers. The EP itself is very complex and not for those looking for a straight power noise or industrial/EBM release. It puts forth the premise that innocence must end, and we must all in time give in to the horror of the animal within. The ending is one that comes as a surprise and a shock to most listeners. The remixes are some of the most intricate for Manufactura as most were redesigned & altered by Manufactura itself. Those who listen to this release will either walk away confused or find themselves changed in some subtle way.
Any chance you will be coming back to WI? I have seen you in Milwaukee and Madison. Both great shows!!! Miss the internal bleeding and the devistating beats.
your musik healing me..cuz I know other feel like me or feel that things you sing and thats the positive of all and I enjoy your musik so much!!!since a friend of mine told me about your albums and musik...so thanks for exist
Hey man, yesterday I got 'Company...' in the mail, today I've listened to it all day! Amazing peace of work! One of the best remix albums I've listened to! Since it's tagged an EP, it just does sound like a new LP! It's as diverse as your other albums and also has a complete feel to it, which I find truly amazing, considering most of the material are remixes of existing songs. It's hard to pick a favorite, 'cause all tracks are really good. I like the different takes of the original, Deep Waters with female vocals is great! (the original is one of my favorite tracks of yours). But at this moment 'Hollywood Babylon' is really in my head, that melody! Great new track! All in all, an amazing new work and thnx for that and all involved! And am very curious about the new 2-disc album and the Broken Fabiola album! Grtzzz.
