    M6 Productions's Interests
GeneralMost of my passions revolve around photography and film, so you can draw your own conclusions for this area. I love to geek out about all the juicy technical stuff, too. I collect (and use) all kinds of classic cameras. So, if you ever want to get a word in edgewise, don't get me started on that.
MusicAs a former musician, all kinds of music are near and dear to me, but if I had to choose one genre that speaks to me the most, it would have to be the blues. All blues really, but what really grips me is the pre- and post-war Delta and Chicago blues, as well as Texas blues from the same era.

In addition, I love all kinds of music with maybe the exception of new country. In fact, I can say for sure that I don't like new country... At all. Or as I call it, "emo-country". Now, classic country is a different story. Anything from the likes of Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, or any new or old artist who writes/performs in those styles is always welcome on my iPod.

I also particularly love electronic music, which encompasses techno, trance, club, and dance, as well. Heavy metal, classic rock, folk, world music... I'm basically an all-around music junkie... Except for emo-country.
MoviesI'm going to try and be brief here, but it will be difficult. Anything by the late master Stanley Kubrick will always be near or at the top of my list. As filmmakers go, he has been, by far, the most influential to me. His classics like 2001; A Clockwork Orange; and Barry Lyndon are arguably some of the finest films of all time. I think what attracted me to Kubrick's style so early on, in addition to his particular cinematic style and attention to detail, was the fact that he was a true perfectionist, interested in being involved with every aspect of his films, no matter how small they might be. Kubrick was not a man to delegate responsibility; he was a man who was involved in the whole project, from top to bottom, which I'm sure added to the stress levels of many of his crew.

Many of my other all-time favorites fall into the sci-fi genre, such as the Star Wars and Raiders films (of course), Apocalypse Now, Bladerunner, Alien, THX-1138, 2010, and so many more. I'm going to cut it off here, otherwise I'll be typing all night.
TelevisionActually, I don't watch much television, and I never watch sitcoms or any other network porgrams. When I do watch television, I like to let it either relieve some stress by showing me [adult swim] or teach me something by feeding me documentaries from the History Channel, TLC, and other channels of that ilk. I can't enough of the classics. Anything about the classic Mediterranean civilizations is an automatic tune-in. Extra points if they're in HD.
BooksSadly, as a working photographer, I have no time to read. Well, except for Macworld and Rangefinder Magazine on occasion.
HeroesMy parents; all the brave men who first ventured forth into space; and Hunter S. Thompson for being such a freak and for being unafraid to tell the system to go screw itself.

About me:
As you can probably tell, I don't spend a lot of time on myspace, so if you want to find out the latest news while it's still fresh, check out the M6 Blog at the link below and be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed!

We're almost ready to start production on Ninja Pirate Supermodels. If you like ninjas, pirates, supermodels, and laughing until you cramp, then stick around. This one's going to be hilarious. And yes, it's a feature film, not a short! I'll be shooting and editing this film. Citizen Gray directs.
Who I'd like to meet:
All like-minded film nuts in the San Antonio/Austin area. I'm always looking to expand my professional contact list, so if you're an actor, producer, director, crewmember, or whatever, drop me a line!

Hey, thanx for the b-day wish! It's been a good one: got a free rental at the video store, free dessert at J.Carino's, and spent time with my wife, dad & stepmom. And I had a bunch of MySpace b-day comments :)

Hah! I heard some comparisons to Charlie Sheen (from "Beyond the Law) on the set, but I don't think I heard any about Snake. Thanks, though. The actor who shot the pic (Andrea Van Epps), called it my "here to save the day" pose. Good times.

Waco is as daft as ever. Getting sick of it. I don't think I'll be looking for any more film gigs. Gonna stick to stills. I'll do my best to fulfill my commitment to NPS, but that'll be it for me. How's SA treating you?

You know it as well as I do: that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an indispensible tool for anyone trying to find his way in an incomprehensible universe. It and Red Dwarf are fantastic last-man-alive tales of adventure in which there is far too much comedy running amuck to pause to face the overwhelming sadness of being alone in the universe -- which is precisely how Humanity finds itself.
See you at call, and don't forget your towel. Share and Enjoy!

Wow, Darren...I just sat and watched the three videos you have on your page...and I must say, I'm quite impressed. I really like "Doodle's Last Dance"...I could swear there was subliminal messaging in that acid-tripped dance he was doing! lol...it really left an impact on me. And when I'm impressed, that says something...Well-done! Looking forward to seeing more of your work. As always...and in everything you do...I'm a loyal fan.
