Luther Russell started his career at an early age as lead singer/songwriter of acclaimed L.A. quintet the Freewheelers, who put out records for Geffen and American between 1991 and 1996. He then went solo, his first three albums coming out on various indie labels between 1997 and 2001. These were all recorded while living in Portland, Oregon. It was also in the great northwest that Luther produced several records by artists such as Richmond Fontaine and Fernando. After relocating back to Los Angeles, he recorded a brand new solo record entitled "Repair", which was released on Ungawa/Adrenaline on Aug. 21st. "Repair" was produced by Ethan Johns almost entirely live in the studio. Luther and Ethan also co-produced the debut album of songstress Sarabeth Tucek, just out in the UK on Dec. 10th. On subsequent trips to London he has produced singles by up-and-coming UK acts such as Folks, Ain, Tom McKean & The Emperors and Noah And The Whale. Luther also plays organ in L.A.- based Magic Mirror.
