Paul and Hewson (then in Vitesse, now in the New Lines) began playing as Alsace Lorraine in 2000. They released 'Through Small Windows' in 2001, with Ruth Welte and Caitlin Brice. During the following year, the group played a series of shows in Chicago and Austin, then went on hiatus as Paul recovered from the effects of a coma. Only a few compliation tracks were released between 2002 and 2006. During this period, Isol was touring extensively and recording what would become 3 albums and an EP with the Buenos Aires group Entre Rios. Isol joined Alsace Lorraine during the recording of 'Dark One' (available April 9 2007 from Darla). The group are at work on a third record, begun in Brooklyn and slated to be wrapped up in London next year with Ian Catt. Produjeron su primer álbum "Through Small Windows" en el 2001 con Ruth Welte y Caitlin Brice. Durante el siguiente año el grupo presentó una serie de conciertos en Chicago y Austin, después tuvieron un período de descanso mientras Paul se recuperaba de un coma. Entre el 2002 y el 2006 sólo participaron en algunas compilaciones. Durante ese periodo Isol estaba participando en giras extensas y grabando lo que terminaría siendo tres álbumes con el grupo de argentino Entre Ríos. Isol se integró a Alsace Lorraine durante la grabación de "Dark One" (disponible a partir del 9 de abril del 2007 a través de Darla). El grupo está trabajando en su tercer álbum, iniciado en Brooklyn y programado para terminarse en Londres el próximo año con Ian Catt (productor de bandas como Saint Etienne). Alsace Lorraine planea presentar conciertos nuevamente a fines del 2007.
