Ed, Ian, and Jake, old Oberlin College buddies, began playing together in 1994 as part of the traditional bluegrass band, Weedkiller. Years later, the three of them reassembled in New York as the Lonesome Trio, compiling a repertoire of their own unclassifiable songs and performing them at New York venues such as the Rockwood Music Hall, Parkside Lounge, Bowery Ballroom, Irving Plaza, and Galapagos. They also had a total blast playing at Scot and Kerry's wedding.
the songs: the first two are from the tremendously fun show at the Parkside on Sept 28 2007. the second two songs are from the Parkside in December 2006.
Dennis Lichtman joins us on fiddle for The Greek, which was written by Frank Wakefield, and the Tahoe Wedding Song, which was written by Jake. Vito Dieterle plays sax on the Tahoe Wedding Song. Scot Armstrong wrote the lyrics to The Armstrong Song, one of our favorites.
No plans for a cross-country trip just yet, sadly. But I love that you perform in NYC. Whenever I hear bluegrass and folk music, I don't particularly envision the East Coast. :-)
Armstrong Song IS a great song. It's so cute and makes me smile... kind of like all of the music you guy make. ^_^ Are you going to do any Christmas music?
On that episode of the Office where Andy asks Angela, was that all of you guys singing? I thought it sounded like you, but I wasn't sure.
Thanks for the add! Your music sounds great!! We may have to take you up on that Ed, and come to Cali, the kids would totally LOVE that!!!!!! Have a great weekend!
While the entire band is awesome, I just want to say to Ed: I'm just back from the UCB improv show - you were AWESOME! I'm impressed with your hacky sack skills.
Thank you dears for the add! It is very much appreciated... I love your music (it has gotten me to stop listening to Barry Manilow... I can't thank you enough for *that* one.. seriously. You have no idea how much listening to Barry Manilow ruins your social life.)
Thanks for the add. Love your stuff. It's not usually my kind of thing, but I love it just the same. Wish I could see ya'll in concert some day.
~Much Love,
Brittani Evans
ed... nice "rockin' robin" last night. All four parts. Impressive. Man, that Andy is a real Cheney! Keep up the good work and the good singing with your band and on the office. :)
