Lazyrus... an Alternative Hip Hop act comprised of Poet/Songwriter, Lazyrus (Buffalo, N.Y.) and DJ/Producer, Mr. Price (Erie, Pa).
The two met in 2010 and since then have been infusing Hip Hop music with elements of Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz, and Traditional Americana as rich backdrops for Lazyrus‘ poignant lyrics. “a masterful way of combining Punk, Rock and Jazz.” - Daniel Morrison, Hip Rock Magazine (Sep 01, 2012. By crafting these diverse styles into a relevant, cohesive sound, Lazyrus has proven itself as one of the most innovative musical forces on the national underground Hip Hop scene.

Front man, Lazyrus, has been performing in and around his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y. for almost a decade. An accomplished and deeply respected Slam Poet, he has won over 12 local head - to - head competitions, was a member of the city’s National Slam Team in 2008, and even opened the 2012 Kwanzaa ceremonies in Buffalo, N.Y..

As a musician, he began his career as a singer songwriter before signing with Free Agent Recordz as an MC in 2005. During that time, he had produced and collaborated with some of the most appreciated names in the local Hip Hop scene (Soul Bodega, Ray Skilla, Wise Mecca, and Taariq Abdul Salaam just to name a few) as well as artists of other musical styles. Locally renowned for his abilities as both a spoken word artist and as a heartfelt MC, Lazyrus quickly gained recognition as a raw talent in the culturally rich Buffalo arts scene.

DJ/Producer Mr. Price began his musical journey by earning his bachelors’ degree of science in Digital Media Arts from Canisius College. During this time, he had the opportunity to assist in mixing sessions for such renowned artists as, Nas, Ciara, and Lil John at Circle House Studios (Miami, Florida). In 2005, he began his own multimedia company, Northstar media.

Since then, he has added his remixing, producing, and engineering talents to over 5000 songs and has worked with over 300 artists from all over the country. In 2010, Mr. Price successfully promoted, produced, and funded THE JAM - BOREE, a multi - genre music festival bringing in 27 bands from 8 states. No easy feat for a small independent media company.

After forming as a unit in 2010, Lazyrus and Mr. Price were signed to German recording label R n’ R Records on the strength of their highly avant-garde debut album, “13“. While nothing hit the radio in the U.S. their debut effort earned them spins on record stations overseas and on internet radio, as well as putting them in the top 40 multiple times on the MTV sponsored website, Ourstage.com.

In 2012, the band independently released “N.O.M.. This hyper - eclectic 22 track collection showcased the growth of both Lazyrus and Mr. Price as musicians and producers. With the help of their first video, “I Rock”, they gained legions of die hard fans in their hometowns as well as around the country. The loyalty of their fans was proven when the band won a Nationwide Reverbnation contest to be featured in the September 2012 edition of Hip Rock Magazine.

2013 has been a busy and fruitful one for the band individually and collectively. Mr. Price continues to add his talents as one of the most sought after recording DJ’s and producers in western PA. Working with multiple artists and with multiple styles, he continues to expand as an artist, a producer, and as an engineer. Meanwhile, Lazyrus continues to win head - to - head Poetry Slams everywhere he goes. His most recent was the Pure Ink Poetry Slam in November. Amongst the competitors were 3 Slam Poetry Olympians, 2 of which were up from Salt Lake City on a National Poetry tour. A high school drop out himself, Lazyrus fulfilled a lifelong dream of teaching a collegiate poetry class at Fredonia State University earlier this year as well.

Though busy doing other things in their respective fields and residing hours away, Lazyrus and Mr. Price have made the time to record their most genre - redefining collection to date. From the uber - pop sounding “Down” to the inspiring “Nobody”, and from the socially motivated “The Truth is...” to the High octane funkiness of “Fresh”, this diverse musical endeavor truly speaks to the bands’ originality, social awareness, and crossover appeal. This, yet to be named album is currently in the final stages of production and will be ready for release in early 2014.
