Layne Staley Fund, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created in 2002, provides hope, education, support and treatment funds for heroin recovery in the Seattle music community.
Seeking to turn the tragedy of Layne's death into hope for those that suffer, Layne Staley Fund uses donated funds and proceeds from the sale of merchandise and tribute revenues to support local chemical dependency facilities, drug education, and outreach programs. We work with fans and musicians to raise funds for community heroin recovery programs.

Good afternoon, it is me again, saying again, how much I miss Layne and how much I appreciate the all the work you guys do!!!Thanks for the smiles you bring!!!
Bittersweet to have stumbled across your site, here, on myspace. You know there are so many bands, and so many music artists within those bands it has always been a challenge for me to keep up with... never paid much attention.
I knew that the lead singer from Alice In Chains had passed away, quite awhile ago. Everytime, I heard a song I would be sad because we lost someone legendary... but it wasn't personal until I realized that I had KNOWN LAYNE. Hit me like a ton of bricks!
Crazy but true! I just never knew Layne was from Alice in Chains, (and that he was 'the guy'!) til I came to your site. It overwhelmed me (I couldn't sleep half the night) upon putting all this together with a glimpse of a photograph that you had posted of him. I always wondered what had become of my friend, Layne?
Often looked from him at the Rainbow where we met and hung out a number of times. (I never put it together because I never knew him as a big rockstar ~ just a really cool, very handsome fella). Wish I had known more of him, especially to have somehow intervened! (Yes we are all our brothers' keepers! So if you know someone having trouble ~ check on them TODAY!) I guess I was fortunate to have known Layne. It's almost embarrassing that I didn't know he was so accomplished musically ~ (I don't claim to have known him well) but maybe he liked someone NOT going goo goo over his fame? Some people are modest and don't run around telling everyone about their successes. A means of weeding out the ones with ulterior motives who take advantage ~ a means of drawing those who love you for 'you'. (Like the people who win lotto ~ don't want everyone to know?) No one needs a fair weather friend.
If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have put the puzzle pieces together! This is going to take me awhile to get over! Still in shock! Thanks for all that you do for those who need to win the fight against heroin addiction!
I have been defending your name all weekend...it is so sad that some people have such small minds...You gave the world your soul and I am forever grateful..I love you and ROCK IN PEACE!!!
You guys have a wonderful cause! Its so tragic that we lost such a talented and awesome person !'m a huge Layne/AIC fan...I even named my first child Layne Allyson Gracye in his honor.Rest in piece Layne, you will be missed always!! cj
