   TheLateBloomersRevolution's Blurbs
About me:
I'd be eternally grateful if you buy my book, THE LATE BLOOMER'S REVOLUTION If you read it and you write me I WILL WRITE YOU and THANK YOU and tell you just exactly how much I appreciate your getting my book, so if you want more mail...it's a good plan.) ------------------------------------------------------------ AN EXCERPT FROM THE LATE BLOOMER'S REVOLUTION: Standing there, I had no idea of what to do -- peddle, then push off? Push off, then peddle? I was lost. Not knowing the simplest steps to riding a bicycle lead me to think about all the other things I assumed I’d know at thirty-five, but didn’t. I liked to consider myself a late bloomer, meaning someone who would eventually, however late, come into bloom. Although when and if I would bloom remained a mystery. I wished I knew how to speak a foreign language fluently. I had always fantasized about being able to argue in Italian, flailing my hands over my head while yelling “Basta! Paolo!” I wished I knew how to cook a simple roast chicken well or that I had read “The Brothers Karamazov,” or, “The Idiot,” whose main character sounds like someone I could relate to.
Who I'd like to meet:
EARLY REVIEWS: "Late Bloomer's Revolution is a wry look at love and life. Amy's storytelling is irresistible throughout her foibles and her bittersweet triumph." --JEANNETTE WALLS, author of THE GLASS CASTLE ------------------------------------------------------------ "This is the last blurb I am ever going to write. I meant the last one to be the last one, but I couldn't resist this memoir, and I can't imagine anyone -- man, woman, dead or alive -- who could. The Late Bloomer's Revolution is full to bursting with heart, charm and comic brilliance." - MELISSA BANK, author of THE GIRL'S GUIDE TO HUNTING AND FISHING. ------------------------------------------------------------- "Refreshing is too tame a word. In this world of contemporary literature, with its embarrassment of pink books featuring disembodied high heels on the cover (if only there were a name for this genre) The Late Bloomer's Revolution is a genuinely subversive work. It's also delightful. Amy Cohen is as funny and observant a writer as one could wish for, but it is her book's measured and elegant delineation of the very real difference between solitude and loneliness that will bring you up short." --DAVID RAKOFF, author of DON'T GET TOO COMFORTABLE and FRAUD. ------------------------------------------------------------- "Who wouldn't fall in love with Amy Cohen? Her The Late Bloomer's Revolution is the new single woman's bible . . . She reminds you of what it means to love. I was riveted to her tender feelings for her parents, her disastrous dates (How could men not adore her? I am with her father on that one!), her rashes, her honesty. She provides the new happy ending -- which is better than being married, at any price." --LAURA SHAINE CUNNINGHAM, author of SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS and BEAUTIFUL BODIES. ------------------------------------------------------------- "Amy's honest, hilarious story of her transformation without liposuction, botox, or any kind of surgery had me in stitches. A totally relatable story that had me laughing and nodding in agreement with her universal observations about becoming a woman. This is better than chick lit, because this chick's grown up." --MARISSA MARCHETTO, author of CANCER VIXEN . ------------------------------------------------------------ "In equal parts moving and hilarious, The Late Bloomer's Revolution is an amazing book by an amazing writer." --ANDY BOROWITZ ----------------------------------------------------------- "Hilarious, heartbreaking, ultimately victorious . . . and did I say hilarious? Amy Cohen is beyond funny. She's a smart, charming, loveable scream." --CATHI HANAUER, editor of BITCH IN THE HOUSE.

Shelly Ryan is an ordinary mother waiting for her son to arrive home from school. She is unaware she's been lulled into a trance-like state from her day of running mundane errands.

She hears the door slam and is greeted by a boy she doesn't recognize.
Why is he dressed so funny? Why is the room black and white? And why is SHE standing there in an apron with a plate of cookies in her hand?

(cue hauntingly familiar music...) Because she's entered the:

I enjoy driving but NOT sitting in traffic. Instead of engaging in road rage, I play little games to pass the time, like "translate the personalized license plates". I suck at that game.

So in honor of the amount of time I've spent on the road visiting my son at the hospital (who is on the road to recovery and may come home in a few days), I share this comedy.

Love & laughs,
Shelly

The severe drought in Georgia has left my once plush Bermuda grass a barren wasteland. Regardless, I'm going out to mow the lawn...in hopes to appease the rain gods. Or give my neighbors a cheap thrill. You see, I'm inspired by some women who have an unusual ritual to revitalize their once fertile crops.

I uploaded a new audio comedy to my profile, so I invite you to listen, laugh, and ENJOY!

Of course you're my favorite crazy Jewish chick!

I thought of you this weekend because Blaker and I saw this movie with a Jewish inventor in it. He invented the Jewlahoop. Unfortunately, it wasn't that successful because it was shaped like the Star of David and not easy to hula (or perhaps, Jewla) in. I think your next new accomplishment should be learning to Jewlahoop. ;)

Hey, Dear! My photos from D.C. came out blurry, but Bruce got some good ones, so I downloaded them. We had such a good time! We ended up finding some random Thai restaurant after we left the Synagogue and stayed up late eating spicy food and drinking wine. :)

Hi Amy, I finally got your book and read it in one night. Seriously, I couldn't put it down. It was SO ME...and some parts were funny as hell...the way you worded things. I feel the book sends a positive message and one I def need in my life right now. Took it to work and I have some married friends that have bought it, so hey, I'm starting a trend among singletons and marrieds alike in Roanoke, VA. I hope to make it some day to one of your appearances. Good luck with everything!
