As an artist, activist, advocate, educator, promoter and an ongoing student of life, I share my ideas and talents while learning from others in the process. In the daytime, am the Project Manager for the Pathway Technology Campus as well as a member and on the Board of Reflect & Strengthen(R&S). www.reflectandstrengthen.org. R&S is a non-profit organization led by and for young women from the urban neighborhoods of Boston nurturing environments to create positive social change in our lives and in our communities through creative expression, political education and community building. As a member of R&S, I have had the opportunity to travel to Holland, Cuba and Colombia to experience global issues firsthand in order to create and nurture bonds with people from around the world; building connections, education and resources to strengthen our movements. From a young age, I began expressing myself through singing and dancing Bomba and Plena which are folkloric musical genres originating from Puerto Rico. This was the beginning of my artistic passions and now as the Lady Enchantress, I helped form the band Hall of Justice fusing Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul, Funk and Timba. As a performer I feel I have the power to reach out to people of all ages and backgrounds to expose the realities of oppressive behaviors and systems of injustice as well as to share my personal experiences with the hopes of others learning from them as I did.
I've had the opportunity to bless the stage with:
THE LAST POETS,
DEAD PREZ, NICE & SMOOTH, CL SMOOTH,
MEDUSA,
SUPERNATURAL,
LA BRUJA,
RICO PABON out of the Bay Area
And many Boston-based artists such as BABALOO, FOUNDATION MOVEMENT, PROJECT MOVE, ED OG, KIKI BREEVLIFE, ANJULI STARS, LISA DENISE, KABLUNA, DANIELLE SCOTT and many more...
So here's the first song I ever actually wrote to a beat (music by DJ EL). My boy Kwesi put this video together...
