Frank's Interests
|
| General | Arts, and science.
Philosopphy and logic.
Mathematics and computer programming
Physics and electronic circuit design.
SCUBA diving.
Skiing.
Manufacturing.
Machining and mold making.
Luthery.
Musical composition.
Performance arts (classic guitar, bass, sitar.)
...and people.
| | Music | I like all music styles in general, and have taught classic guitar at Music 6000, North Thurston (Lacey Parks and Recreation), TESC (The Evergreen State College), Virtuoso Studios, Music Service, and co-founded The Olympia Conservatory.
I studied classic guitar technique and theory under Rick Riley, and have attended a Master Class of Patricio Conterras in the '90s ..but I have been playing guitars since the mid- '60s
I like to compose and I enjoy playing the electric bass with friends on the weekends.
I arrange classic guitar music including pieces by Beehtovan, Rachmaninoff and my friends.
I build a 24-fret 6-channel solid body piezo-electric classic guitar.
I also manufacture "Loud Sticks" ...drumsticks made of 30 percent glass filled polybutyleneterepthalate (Ten bucks a set.) And also make drumstick holders which attach 2 sticks to the side of a drum
via the lugs. I make other things too via my small company called Delphi O.E.M. Co. where I do machining, and mold making and injection molding, etc.
...And I run the USA portion of the Karaoke World Championships
which you can visit online at KWCUSA.com. American singers placed 3rd and 4th in the world finals in 2004 and 2005.!
We have a new company running the world contest and you are welcome to visit the Karaoke World Contest to learn more.
I did not set out to make music my life, but it has always been a part of it and now, many of my friends are also musicians or singers.
'Hope to hear you someday...
| | Movies | My taste in cinima may have changed since the time when The Wizard Of OZ was tops on the list.
2001 A Space Odessy was cool, much better than the 'ape movies' I thought.
Okay there's more... Dr. Zhivago, Alien, From Beyond, All The Mornings Of The World, The Fifth Element, Metropolis, The Deep, The Forbidden Planet. Heck, I even liked Water World!
But I really enjoy archelogical and other science documentaries and series on TV such as the original series pilot show ...Connections.
Good effects impress me so I did enjoy Water World, but I can also appreciate works with small budgets. Tron was cool, but in general I don't like the mixing
of cartoon and photography.
I do not own a movie, ...not one.
I really would rather watch just about anything I have not seen before, over watching something again. And truth is almost always more interesting and original than fiction.
| | Television | I have rabbit ears on a tiny borrowed set which gets only one local channel, usually to poorly to read any text and often without any color. It's just right for watching American Idol on.
I enjoyed Weeds and even Dexter ...however I have sove very real reservations about Dexter as it may cause some folks who are on the edge to act out in a horrible way. I
guess the same could be said for many things, still I find it to be irresponsible in the part of the producers considering the scope of the audience. | | Books | Wow, so many books, so little time.
Let's see... Anapurna, ..104 Injection Molds, General Chemistry (Linus Pauling), the CRC Handbook Of Chemistry And Physics, the Harvard Dictionary Of Music, oh, there are just so many that I can't choose the few for this list. I dig books which are factual and well anotated. I read sci-fi and novels when young, and have read a lot of religious texts and a bit of modern philosophy too. Math books
and music books are high on the list and I really enjoyed (Dali's) 50 Secrets Of Magic Craftsmanship.
| | Heroes | I guess many folks would include their dad as a hero. In my case, ...he really is.
I'd like to thank the rest of you whom have crossed my path for all have been an influence on it's direction. From those whom I have given the least, I have taken the most, ...I hope I have given the most to those who had the least to
give in return.

About me:
I run KWCUSA the USA portion of the Karaoke World Contest managed by the Karaoke World Consortium.
I was originally here seeking musicians and others to help build an amphitheater in Olympia Washington on the grounds of Monarch Park.
I asked folks to
Contact me if they were a band/musician interested in performing at our Monarch Rock Showcase (July 8, 2006) or are interested in helping out in any other way ...such as being a sponsor.
As of now, I am cancelling that project. If you are interested in picking it up let me know, and we'll discuss it further, but I am no longer in the position of being able to handle it alone, or at least without a major donor or silent partner which would enable me to devote the time required for such an event.
For those of you who are 21 and older and love to sing karaoke, or host shows, have a look at our (OLD) contest site KWCUSA and then tell your friends what we are all up to...
And what is it that we are up to?
Currently it's a waiting game... waiting for an angel
to invest or for all of you in this singing world to
pitch in and make it possible, and make it happen.
The "Kids Karaoke Campout" is still a great idea
and I hope to be able to make it an annual event. That is,
provided there is enough interest. Of the endevours, this
is the easier to manage and run. One large event as
opposed to dealing with many events in many countries, ...sort of a no brainer eh?
The World Karaoke Contest was a great learning experience
and will be revitalized only if certain conditions are met.
...Should that happen, there will be a major change in how
KWCUSA deals with contest hosts, ...fees will be charged and kits will be sold rather than having hosts on an honor
system responsible for charging singers and sending in the
proceeds.
Less likely will be changes to rules.
Singers will probably still get to sing three songs during
a contest event, and the judging criteria and method will
just as likely remain as it is.
For the singers are the reason to have the contest, and for
them, it is not so much for the win as for the fun of
being a part of a group and participating in event.
I always felt that every singer should get to sing the
same number of songs as the next, and that judging should
be done at the end, ...not in a series of elimination
rounds.
