About me: check out our new project at http://www.myspace.com/ksacares and WELCOME to KSA's MYSPACE PAGE! Knoxville Songwriters Association, founded by Sara Williams in 1983, has welcomed songwriters for approximately 24 years and meets every Tuesday night at the Fountain City Library, in Knoxville,Tennessee, from 6:30 til 8:00 pm. The cost for membership is 30.00 per year. The first 2 visits are FREE! You don't have to aspire to be a "top-40" hit-songwriter in order to benefit from the meetings. All songwriters, male or female, of all genres are welcome, including folk, rock, country, house, ambient, easylistening, pop, comedy, rap & R&B. Our main purpose is to help one another with the song writing process by providing constructive criticism through thoughtful analysis of ORIGINAL songs presented. You may present songs with ORIGINAL tunes and/or lyrics by live performance, such as singing along with a guitar,or playing a pre-recorded cassette, or CD. You may also present LYRICS ONLY if you do not sing or play an instrument. It is not mandatory that you present songs when you attend meetings. Please feel welcome to attend the next meeting! <<>> Need directions? The Fountain City Library is near the Fountain City Duck Pond off of Broadway. Just getting the word out to remind our Songwriter Friends that this Friday (June 27th) is the extended SCHOLARSHIP application postmark deadline for Skip Ewing's Horse & Writer "Invitational." A 7-day writer's retreat like no other, during which You'll be given personal guidance by Skip and three other multi-award winning hit songwriters. This year: Deanna Bryant ("Stupid Boy," "Johnny and June," "Don't Make Me"), Clay Mills ("Fall," "Beautiful Mess," "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"), and Chris Wallin ("Love Me If You Can," "Don't Blink")
Apply for one of up to 20 scholarships to attend Horse & Writer Invitational for $0 tuition, but do it soon (by Friday)! Scholarship covers all food/lodging/education/riding. (You don't have to ride horses to participate.)
Don't worry if it's not the perfect demo, we're listening to submitted songs that represent their writers. You'll be heard for your writing, not production.
If You're a songwriter, You definitely need to check this out!
Here's why:
It's the most innovative and prestigious songwriting mentorship program ever offered!
This year's staff includes, award winning songwriters: Skip Ewing, Deanna Bryant, Clay Mills, and Chris Wallin... for an entire week, You'll have their eyes and ears paying attention to your writing.
And, most exciting of all... if You're accepted to the Horse & Writer Invitational program, You'll be able to attend on scholarship! That means, this year (and hopefully every year from now on!) You won't have to pay the $2500 dollar tuition fee! just your application fee(s) and your travel to and from the ranch.
KSA presents songs by GREG HUTCHENS, so open up yo' mouth and have a big ole bite of hot, home made, songwriter's stew! disclaimer: no letters of the alphabet were harmed during the crafting of these songs!
