   About Black Umbrella
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Slumber Party Phenomenon - Now Available (See Snowcap Player Above) black umbrella constructs a dreamy new wave landscape for jangly misfits & flower children, a soundtrack for roller discos with the lipstick traces of art school glam, the flamboyant melodicism of the smiths & the indie pop aesthetic of sarah, factory, postcard & creation records.

Some of them are real, like Susan and the Icebergs (Siouxsie and the Banshees) and a couple of Floyd aliases, but the rest are red herrings - it all started when we put a caption saying we were the best thing since Sliced Bread... and they were really good! Then we searched and found dozens of bands called sliced bread, all of whom were shit!
Thanks for making me laugh!

A new EP already? You're just bubbling over with inspiration. I love it. All bands should be like you.

Once you've completed the EP, I would definitely like to review it for Condemned to Rock 'n Roll.

I forgot to mention that the long instrumental at the end of 21st Century gives me goosebumps.

It's really nice to hear a nice, clear mix of 21st Century - it actually works quite well without bass and drums, doesn't it? Although, I would still like to hear how it works with bass and drums, too.

The stuff's sounding great, guys! Is that Miou-Miou illustrating Last Lullaby? or Mireille Darc?

Love Dare Not Veil has a new urgency to it and a definite New Romantic feel - I love it.

Fool You Can't Escape - I really like the new intro with the bassline...I think it's a great improvement on the original demo and drives the song along.

Don't Try to Disappear somehow now reminds me Television Personalities, which is of course a very good thing.

Whew...it's been a busy week for me, so now I've gotten a chance to sit down and finally take a proper listen to your new mixes.

First off, Secret Kiss simply can't get any better, so it's just as well tht it's your final mix of it. "Cradled comatose exhibition life" are lines worthy of Richey Edwards, and that's more than most will ever achieve.

Secondly, (at the risk of sounding like a pervy uncle) the latest mix of Believers Never Lie is filling out nicely. Is the pause in the middle still going to undergo some ticking drums like it used to have, or are you planning on something even better?

Lastly, I had never heard Honeysuckle before now, but it is truly wonderful. It has a darker, post-punk feel than the rest of your songs. Little bit of early Associates and early New Order in there.

I met Julie Christie once - she was the guest of honour at a special showing of Don't Look Now at the Foyle Film Festival in Derry years ago! I couldn't bring myself to tell her how the film had, er..."helped me through" my teenage years (ahem!)

I love that new intro to Donna's Major and the interlude is fantastic. And Amanda Lynn is sounding so much richer now. You're making it difficult to wait for the full album.
