Kiki O’Connell is nothing short of astounding, with youth, beauty and intelligence just a few of her many gifts; she is also a massively talented and determined singer/songwriter with her sights on success. This girl is sultry yet vibrant; with a tone closely resembling melting chocolate the sophistication and class of her performance present her with her a maturity beyond her teenage years. There is still something immensely endearing about her, perhaps because she has an innocence and sincerity whilst being feisty and mischievous, qualities that are openly evident in her lyrics.
A year ago, Kiki was a shining A grade college student constantly trying to justify why Dance, Drama and English literature were legitimate subjects of study. Now she is at the threshold of success.
“As a child I dreamed of being a dancer, then one day I had an epiphany, sat down wrote a song, poured my heart into a song and decided I wanted to be a singer”
Aged seventeen, she met vocal coach Sonia Jones, with whom she began lessons, Kiki immediately reconsidered her plans to audition for theatre school and embarked on the creation of her debut album “Boston Gardens”, co-writing material with Richard Darbyshire lead singer of 1980s group “Living in a Box”.
Kiki chose the title of the album “Boston Gardens” as it is the name of the location at which the majority of composition and production of the album happened. The record is an eclectic mix, of profound Soul ballads that will induce tingling, sultry R&B tracks and aggressive Pop.
“My songs are my solace; they’re like my diary, if I’m saddened I write, if I’m elated I write; it consoles me. I hope when people listen to my music they can relate to my emotions and find some kind of escapism.”
