There's a fine line between being conceited and being confident! Cincinnati's newest rap sensation KHADIJAH definitely straddles this line. "I have a mean swag because I know I'm very good at what I do" states the twenty four year old rapper. Raised in Over the Rhine, one of Cincinnati's most dangerous neighborhoods she is definitely a product of her environment. Her latest mixtape BACK FOR THE CROWN covers every aspect of hood life. Her newest singe Bad Az Me with lyrics like “You had a swan but you went and got a duck/ so I ride past you in another dudes truck” has become a female anthem. But don’t let the eye level lyrics on songs like Bad Az Me and Lookin' At Me fool you. Khadijah is one of the most lyrically inclined female mc’s to emerge in years! Check out What’s Love where she spits “What’s love got to do with anything in this game/ I know sons who serve their fathers cocaine/ left they mans out to dry and got shelter from the rain/ Obtained his stash while he locked down in ball and chain” KHADIJAH’S straight forward lyrics and strong delivery are what have made her a premier artist and fan favorite in the Cincinnati area. Initially building her buzz with live performances opening for national recording artist such as Young Buck, Rick Ross, and Juvenile she is also known for her strong stage presence. When asked why she calls herself “Queen of the City” she is quick to explain why she deserves the title. “I do what other females don’t. I write all my lyrics (figure of speech since she doesn’t actually write down her lyrics but instead creates her songs and in her head and records without a pen and pad), I pay for my own studio time and buy my own beats, I don’t sit around and wait for some guy to take me to the studio and throw me on a hook. Also, I’m in the streets everyday selling my mix tape and promoting my music. I’m highly respected for what I do which is why I’m the queen of my city.” Currently she is working with critically acclaimed producer Hi-Tek and does an intro for Eddie Bauer and Dj Diamond on 101.1 the Wiz (Radio One) Monday – Friday at five o’clock. KHADIJAH is destined for success in the music industry and will be in the spotlight sooner than later. Keep your ears open because there’s more to come from this artist!
