About outerboroMUSIC:
outerboroMUSIC is a production company and independent record label that produces music for film, theater, and publishing; develops innovative promotional opportunities across media; cultivates new audiences; and supports critical discourse on music in popular culture.
About Kevin Webb:
Kevin Webb's versatility as a vocalist has enabled him to work with a diverse range of artists spanning many genres of music, including Vernon Reid, James "J.T." Taylor (Kool & The Gang), Colonel Abrams, Robyn, Yohimbe Brothers, Ben Eyler, Lisala and Angela Johnson. He has appeared as a featured vocalist on multiple releases from New Jersey-based gospel record label OFMB and took part in their 2004 tour of China (reported to be Chinas first ever gospel music tour). In addition to his studio and live vocal work with various artists, Kevin has also worked with acclaimed music production house The Lodge on music for television and radio (resulting in an appearance on The Apprentice). Along with guitarist Russell DeLaCour, Kevin founded the r&b/rock band LEANiN6. As a duo, Kevin and Russell have written a collection of songs that reflect all of their diverse influences from blues to rock to soul and more and have rocked audiences throughout New York City with their live show. Kevin is a co-producer with the Fort Greene Collective. Formed by long-time jazz manager and producer, Jack Walker, FGC combines artists from various musical genres (including r&b, hip-hop, rock and opera) with some of the most respected names in jazz, including Gary Bartz, Andy Bey, Renee McLean, Greg Bandy and Judy Bady, to create an exciting new sound.
Kevin has written, arranged and/or performed music for (as well as acted in) several stage plays over the years. He recently made his first foray into film music as Assistant Music Supervisor on the film Mr. 3000, directed by Charles Stone III. Under the banner of his newly formed company, Outerboro Music, Kevin plans to continue creating music for film, television, advertising, theatre and dance, as well as new album projects. Outerboro Music's inaugural project is A LOVE NOIRE/HUNGER: The Soundtrack, a compilation featuring several great independent artists: Gordon Chambers, Jason Eskridge, Jazzhole, Leisa Johnson, LEANiN6, Lisala, Vernon Reid, Marlon Saunders, M'Balia Singley, and Soulfege. The album is inspired by the novels of Kevin's wife, author Erica Simone Turnipseed.

On November 14th, 2006, outerboroMUSIC presented a screening and panel discussion for the film Before the Music Dies at New York University's Cantor Film Center. Like the film itself, the event provided an opportunity for a diverse group of musicians, critics and fans to share their reflections on the place music has held in their lives, as well as their perspectives on the current state of popular music and their hopes for its future. We were honored to facilitate such a gathering of music makers and music lovers (and music lovemakers) and to have such a distinguished panel. View photos from the event below.

Kevin, belated thanks for the support and well-wishes. It's all about providing options. After all, if we tell folks that they need to support something else, then we've also got to provide viable alternatives. Otherwise, it's just talk, right? See you and Erica soon!
Last month, Motema Music officially released my new CD, "Deacon Blues". This is the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's a 'players' album, I think, featuring several old friends: Two of my favorite guitarists - Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck - and the legendary Danny Gottlieb laying down the groove. Plus, we've got my brother Tony on bass for a couple of tracks. You don't find him on Jazz sessions that often.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM. or at Woodstock CD where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!) If you do Amazon and feel moved to drop a comment there, that would be much appreciated.
