Ken Webb
was born and raised in Yonkers, New York. Ken attended Catholic schools in the Bronx until going to NYU’s Film School for his undergraduate studies.
Ken’s directorial thesis film at NYU, “The Waiters,” has aired on Bravo, IFC, PBS and CBS plus numerous foreign TV networks. "The Waiters" also won top awards at The Chicago, Columbus International, Suffolk County and NYU’s First Run Film Festivals and was a finalist for the Student Academy Award. It is reported (by reliable sources) that “The Waiters” is the most requested film by professors to screen for classes at NYU to this day.
Ken has been an award-winning writer/director/producer of on-air promos since 1993 (3 1/2 years staff at VH1 and 10 years freelance). As a freelance writer, producer, director, editor and composer, his laundry list of promo campaigns includes work for MTV, Nickelodeon, Showtime, TMC, IFC, AMC, Bravo, ESPN, and Nick at Nite, winning a few industry Promax Awards along the way.
Ken became the resident filmmaker for “Vision Into Art” - A Julliard School series utilizing diverse artistic disciplines - dance, composition, theatre and film - to explore a single theme. Ken also produced several comic shorts for Chicago City Limits "1st Sundays" film festival – including "When Kansas Disappeared."
Ken has appeared in front of the camera countless times including a Nick at Nite Mary Tyler Moore Marathon campaign parodying Jonathan Richman’s character in the film, "There’s Something About Mary."
Mr. Webb has extensive stage experience including 4 years in a sketch comedy group (later known as MTV’s “The State”). Ken acted in the NBC holiday special "Our Christmas Alien," which was the lead-in for The Cosby Show in 1985 - back when Cosby was king. Plus he learned to ballroom dance alongside Jennifer Lopez, when they were both 16-year-old kids in the Bronx.
Ken, the singer/songwriter, has produced a dozen CDs of original songs.
