All live music I experience. Generally, I'm drawn to honest music that comes from the heart, not from the head. "Cool" music is OK, but doesn't last for long in me.
With that I like Stevie Wonder, Judas Priest, Nina Simone, Buddy Guy, Bjork, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchel, Miles Davis, The Mars Volta, Little Richard, Billie Holiday, Led Zeppelin, Santana, "My Sharona", Deep Purple, Edith Piaf, John Lee Hooker, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Django Reinhardt, Sade, Robert Johnson, Chinese violin music, Gabriele and Tangible Truth, Gregorian chants, Madonna, Erykah Badu, Radiohead, Lauryn Hill, Prince, Black Sabbath, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Japanese music w/ koto, shamisen, shakuhachi; Leine, Brannen Temple, Earl Harvin, The Police, House music, Michael & Janet Jackson, cheesy R&B I randomly hear, Carrie Solomon, Jesca Hoop, James Brown, classical (Bach or whoever I hear randomly), Nusrat Fate Ali Kahn, B.B. King, Jon Garcia, Bei Bei, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Daft Punk, Bob Dylan, Gary Graves, Jeff Buckley, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Queen, Jaco Pastorius, The Beatles, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Regina Spector, John Lennon, Brendon Hunt
And all life forms and my spiritual growth!
"Guitar driven songs with off-the-wall vox, fused with Japanese music, Soul, Techno and Jazz" -- Lior Shamir, Managing Director, We Are Listening
- Kazki Bio -
"Kazki moved to Austin, Texas from Oguni, Yamagata, Japan. As a guitarist with unique and diverse sounds, it was difficult to find competent and passionate Japanese musicians as those found in America's music scene. Upon visiting Austin he experieced true, live, American Rock n' Roll and Blues. The city made him want to form his own band with American musicians.
It was after he moved to Austin that he started writing his original songs as well as learning English so he could write lyrics in the language. In spite of searching, he could not find a singer, who could sing all of his songs in the blended styles of Rock, Soul, Jazz, and World music. He started writing original lyrics and started to sing his own music. It was then that he started playing bass, drums, and started composing whole songs.
The album, 'Clear Plastic Case' is his first full-length album and is his second album. It was his first time to have freedom with producing the whole album (except the tracks 1 and 10 produced by Dean Dichoso) in a studio, where he played bass as well as guitar, which allowed him to express the details of the compositions and the "feel" of the songs for the first time."
You're probably listening to one of my songs from my new album "Clear Plastic Case", which is available at CD Baby. Hi Kazki, you rock it out, man! Keep the tunes flowing! Hey, if you're free this Sunday, May 25, join us at the new Nuno's On MoPac (at Parmer Lane) for a Memorial Day show with Texas Country / Red Dirt band, Wicked Brew. They'll play from 5 till 8 out on the shady patio where there's plenty of ice-cold beer, frozen margaritas, some beach volleyball, and great Texas Music. All-in-all, a fun summer Sunday afternoon!
Wicked Brew's new album, "Down South," was just released by Smith Entertainment, and the first single,"I'm Alright," hit Number 16 on the Texas Regional Radio chart this week. (The song's about a girl who picks up a guy in a bar, ties him up in a motel room, then steals his truck. LOL!)
Check out www. WickedBrew. net then meet your buddies at the party on Sunday. Be sure to say Hi if you're there! Rick ......
