Original Australian country/roots music in one of
Sydney’s intimate and personal venues.
The Orphans and Mars Hill Café present unique monthly music
sessions from original Australian country/roots musicians who will
come together to perform live in an environment that is close and
personal.
The Orphanage Sessions started in February 2008 and have featured
The Orphans with special guests such as Caitlin Harnett, Sam
Hawksley, Jessica Belle, Chrissie Pearce, The Yearlings and Karl
Broadie. The second half of the year will feature Lianne Rose Mayer,
The Harmonators, Katie Brianna, Racz and Waters and The Huckleberry
Swedes.
Central Coast based singer/songwriter Katie Brianna is inspired by artists such as Iris DeMent, Ron Sexsmith and Sam Phillips. Their influence, along with Katie’s raw sincerity, combine to create an elegant blend of folk and country roots music, sure to captivate any true music fans heart.
Katie developed a passion for Country Music, influenced by Kasey Chambers and the Christmas gift of her first guitar when she was 12 years old. She competed at the Grand Final of the Telstra Road to Tamworth competition in January 2005 and 2006, and now has a growing list of achievements that includes being hand-picked by Paul Kelly to perform on the ARIA award winning soundtrack ‘Jindabyne’, and winning the country section of the 2006 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards. Katie’s debut EP was released late in 2005.
