We have been asked about the availability of t-shirts from the concert. We DO still have t-shirts for sale (photos shortly). They come in black or white, have the foundation logo and all the band names/logos on the back. We have all sizes available so if you are interested in having a memento of this extraordinary night then please get in touch and we'll tell you how to get hold of one. Alternatively, if you are able to get to The Old Volunteer pub in Carlton, Notts, you can buy them there as well.
Visit the Julie Cotton Foundation website by clcking on the poster.
If you wish to display the poster on your page then please copy and paste the following code into your profile where you want it and it will link to our website where people can find out more and then come back to our myspace via the link.
Please copy the code below and paste it into your page if you would like to publicly show your support of the foundation and this years event in particular. Thank you, it means the world to us.
(made by Soph from the Sam Beeton Fan page - Thanks to you especially!)
Mark Cotton - The head of the foundation and the husband of Julie who's name became the focus for the charity.
Rock City, Nottingham - Staunchly behind the events from the very first one in 2002. Rock City have offered the foundation whatever is needed to make not only a success of the events but also the friendship and help that has allowed us to make our gigs what they are.
Nottingham Forest Football Club who have offered massive help and support leading up the event, and have offered to be a ticket outlet for us.
The Julie Cotton Foundation charity gig happened in an EXTRAORDINARY manner!! March 23rd - Easter Sunday saw 10 bands plus acoustic acts take to the stage in an amazing night. With an hour to go before the doors opened there were only 152 tickets left to sell out of 1900.
This year’s event was ’A Tribute To Liam’, an 8 year old lad from Carlton, Nottingham who very bravely battled Leukaemia until his cancer proved too strong and treatment had to be withdrawn. He lost his fight sadly on New Year’s Day. Everyone involved in this event knew Liam or his parents and played their hearts out to an audience that loudly appreciated every minute. Every band commented on how great the audience were and how professional everything was.
The bands that performed were: ZU2, The Mod Fathers, Baggy Trousers, The Phonics, Congos Secret Chimp, False Maria, S-Punk,Skeleton Crew and The Mick Rutherford Band
The ticket proceeds this year are going directly to Leukaemia Research who paid for Liam to have some drugs that might, had his cancer not been so strong, have seen him through his transplant. Everyone knows someone or of someone close who has or has had Leukaemia which we believe is a big reason for the stupendous turn-out for this concert. Thanks to you, someone may well have an extra chance of life that they might not otherwise have had. Leukaemia Research have vouchsafed that all the money raised by the event will be donated to Nottingham City Hopsital’s haematology unit to aid in their research. So far the total is looking quite brilliant but there is still money coming in and being counted. We will let you know roughly how much was raised as soon as we can.
We would like to say thank you to many people and organisations for their help and support throughout the organisation of this event. This list will be updated and added to as we go. Initially though our most sincere and heartfelt thanks go to:
YOU, the audience, without whom it would have been a big empty gig to a bunch of friends instead of the record-breaking success it was.
The Bands for giving their very best for the foundation and the family
The Irish Centre for the catering (no mean feat)
Nottingham Forest FC for their help and support to Liam and subsequently the foundation in helping to publicise the gig
Nottingham Evening Post for the publicity
TrentFm also for the publicity
Arqiva for the awesome footage they captured for the screens, the bands and the DVD which will be following as soon as we can.
The Old Volunteer in Carlton and Foremans Bar in Nottingham for their help and support and for being ticket outlets for the event.
Everyone that assisted the organising team with anything. It takes alot to make something like this happen and it can’t be done by only a select few.
The Julie Cotton Foundation was set up to raise money initially for Cancer charities but since then has expanded to include other emminently worthy causes locally, nationally and internationally. The foundation used much of the money we raised a couple of years ago to help to rebuild a village in Sri Lanka that was destroyed in the tsunami.
The foundation utilises members from all walks of life who are willing to perform a challenge, set up a fundraising event and more especially work with musicians to put on a live music event where the audience contribute through the price of their ticket and are not asked for more than that. Past events at both Rock City and the Rescue Rooms have been amazingly successful and we thank the bands that have been involved and more especially the audiences who have come to support the bands and the charity. Without you all, we could not have raised the money we have done. We also hope that we have provided (and will continue to provide) excellent entertainment in a great cause.
As more events are organised we will let you know what is happening, when and where the money is to go. In this way we hope that you will feel that you know for sure where your money is going and that it is not getting absorbed into administration.
We would also like to give a special mention to the members of the emergency services who have taken alot of time over the last three years to put on fund raising events (some extra-ordinary challenges as well) all in aid of the foundation and its’ works.
After being involved with the previous fantastic Julie Cotton Foundation events i thought i knew what to expect....how wrong was i!..i don't think ive ever experienced that level of emotion and love in one single place...at times it was draining....It made me realise how honored i was to be a part of this celebration of a very special young boys life...and also very humbled to be lucky enough to be friends with the VERY special group of people who sweat blood to organise it (You know who you are ) In the words of the great Jimi Hendrix " When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace" Simon FALSE MARIA

Hi Martin T-shirts are still available from The Old Volunteer in Carlton. Send me a message if you want one sending to you or call in after 5 in the week, or all day weekends. Love and peace Lol
It was good to see all sorts of people turn up aswell, rather than the usual 'Rock' lot that we see through the doors!
I wanted a T-Shirt, but didn't have any money on me. Will you be flogging them online any time soon?
No idea about the shirt and the microfibre cloth. I'll have a look and let you know. If we find anything it's handed in, so If they haven't been nicked, they'll be lurking around somewhere!
Get planning for next year! I'm sure it would be just as sucsesful!
