ABOUT JOSEPH
Joseph Akins is a pianist, keyboardist, composer and educator living near Nashville, Tennessee. As a pianist/composer, he has released two solo CDs of original music titled Keys to the Heart and Masterpeace. The latter is currently receiving favorable reviews and airplay. Bill Binkelman from New Age Reporter said, “Here's a piano album that I can play over and over again and enjoy each time”. Kathy Parsons from Mainlypiano.com described tracks as being “emotionally complex and absolutely honest”.
Music education began for Joseph with piano lessons at age ten. For years, Joseph performed in notable rock and jazz groups with influences that varied from Journey to Chick Corea. He has earned several degrees in music with concentrations in jazz piano, composition and education. In addition to being a performer/composer, he is an award-winning professor of recording industry at Middle Tennessee State University where his students refer to him as Dr. A.
