About me:
Jonny M is proving an irresistible force on the decks of Brighton’s clubs. It’s been a quite a year for Mr. M as he’s taken the next step in his djing career. He’s no longer the new kid on the block but the dj everyone wants to book. Recently voted Brighton’s Favourite Male Dj At Gscene’s 2008 Golden Handbag Awards, the city is all about this boy as Jonny M makes Rebel his home from home.
Hailing from the breaks and beats of the drum’n’bass scene Jonny’s head was turned towards all things house in 2005 as he decreased the bpm’s by fifty and increased his audience a hundred fold. From those early Wandsworth gigs at Indigo and Brixton’s Living Bar to the dirt of Rebel, Jonny has transformed his style with some aplomb. And now guest slots and residencies at some of Brighton’s finest including The Honey Club, Monkey, Rebel, Digital, Brighton Coalition, The Zap, Monkey Vs Crash, Trade Vs Wild Fruit, Arc, The Koo Klub, Charles St Club and Revenge litter his CV. Add his recent ventures into the world of journalism interviewing the likes of Danny Tenaglia and Quentin Harris for 3Sixty and, as Pete Tong would say, this boy’s become a Brighton essential.
As both a dj and a clubber Jonny M regards Wild Fruit one of Brighton’s brightest lights. “For me Wild Fruit, and the plethora of events run by the Aeon Events team make the Brighton scene what it is. The different club nights, each with their own perfectly suited venue and unique atmosphere, and the huge themed monthly parties ensure that things stay fresh and exciting.” And as for the tunes he plays? Like any dj worth their funky salt he embraces each night with energy whilst keeping an ear on the policy required. “Rebel has to be my favourite night to DJ for. The clubbers there are always up for it. I like to play a slighter harder edged techy set dipping into dirty electro but mainly keeping things pretty uplifting and euphoric.”
A self-confessed house music addict Jonny M has brought to Brighton a sound they can’t get enough of. This charming man brings out the best in the clubber via his upfront beats and up for it attitude and has become a dj we’ve learnt to look out for. Jonny M. A rebellious feast for your senses.
