John Wesley’s Band is a collective of some of Chicago’s finest Americana, rock, alt-country and jazz musicians. Performances cover an engaging variety of songs—from “Americana neo-gospel” to inventive new takes on old spirituals to originals influenced by 50s country and gospel and bluegrass. Anchored by the clear and transfixing voice of Julia Klee and supported by premier instrumentalists, John Wesley’s Band presents a rousing, riveting show of lively country and lyrical originals and bluesy renditions of early American gospel classics. Featuring artists from the Riptones, Second Hand Poets, Daphne Willis and Howlin’ Tumbleweeds, the group’s collective experience includes shows at House of Blues main stage, Double Door, Schuba’s, Jazz Showcase, Martyrs’, The Green Mill, and The Abbey Pub. Members of the band have recorded with Bloodshot Records and Shuteye Records.
