During my performances I create warm harmonic sonic spaces and combine them with processed acoustic instruments and electronic textures. In a concert the tone is set by playing pre recorded textural elements before the performance begins. I will build on these recordings with improvised chord structures using didgeridoos, udu drums and analog synthesizers chained through a series of audio processors. The set continues as a series of flowing ambient sonic spaces for about one hour. During the show the audience is welcome to move around, lay back, and zone out. The performance ends by blending the pre recorded elements that started the show with the gradual deconstruction of live improvisations. I tend to walk out of the performance area when I'm done and encourage the audience to leave the listening space whenever they are ready. It's a practice I have observed with other performers I greatly admire.
Preferred venues are art museums, living rooms, churches, or anywhere it's quiet and distraction free.
Since 1990 I have worked for public radio. Through this career I have been exposed to a number of recordings I would not have found otherwise. Along the way I have met and interviewed some of these artists that inspired me to record my own sonic spaces.
Recently I began to use MIDI technology to create splendid sounds. While I love my Juno 60, I have plunged into the soft synth and digital sampler world thanks to Reason 4.0 None of my final works are contained in one program. The audio is processed, edited, and layered to other audio programs such as ACID and Wavelab. Using Lexicon outboard processing, VST plug ins, and Waves plug ins I contine to discover compelling surreal audio. Expect to hear more of it through My Space and other Internet outlets.
Currently I am combining my on line music interests with my other professional ambitions. I am seeking additional voice over work from any source, field production, and part time studio work. Have some work for me? Contact me.
I have also started to video blog. Here is my first entry from July 2008.
This is my second video blog about a plane trip out west.
So you're changing jobs, huh? Does that mean we can now party together without compromising our professional relationship? I'll bring the crunk juice!!
dude that does sound like flower power. LOL If you have a chance in my "friends" listing there is a band there called starscream check them out when you get a minute. they rock if you like the hard rock. Heidi came up once and we check them out and they are a great band!
I do hope we can all get together again soon. I had fun. All except for the part when Heido wigged out on me. Oh well I guess I had that coming. LOL If ya all don't have any plans around Halloween you should come up with Heidi. We put on a kick ass Halloween party.
So the other day I was cleaning our house and getting ready to move and I stumbled upon a broken piece of cinder block...
If you require more of this story, you must follow the breadcrumbs to my latest blog "The Cinderblock"...It actually has to deal with you :) Oh yeah, so jealous of Comic Con
Your video blog makes me instantly think 2 things. 1) I wish I didn't know this guy 2) I'm so glad this guy is my friend. The look after the tin foil was priceless and very funny.
Thank you! The comment you left the other day on my blog was ITSELF a warm, sonic space. Or maybe Marley just had a little gas. It's hard to tell the difference sometimes.
Live shows later this year? Hells Yeah!! I thought you might have been on some Beatlesque tour retirement. Make it an outdoor festival, call it Pemblestock, and I'll MC.
Thanks for listening to my music on my site. Your aural spaces are really nice--also enjoyed your description of how you stage a concert--what's expected from the audience. Great comments and approach.
Well you know I gotta plug my store when I can, the more words I can get out about how amazing FYE is the better. Do you ever go to the wonderful world of bucks anymore? I feel so awkward when I go there now, when I do go there. Its been forever, I miss the smokiness of the bar... lol how sad is that?
so I see headphones in the main photo of you, but I see they are not skull candy head phones, pretty sure you should invest in them. they are amazing, plus you can get them at your local FYE store. just FYI lol just thought I would interject that.
Well, ducky! So you're coming to California - the Land of Opportunity. The Other Sunshine State. Surfer's Haven. The 17th Largest Grower of Citrus Varieties. Birthplace of McDonald's. Where Hollywood elites park their limousines.
