"A Declaration" -John Nixon
... And all at once it occured to me, like a blinding eclipse
crippling every one of my thirteen senses, I fell from paradise
Tumbling past my ignorance and self assuredness
I landed head first into the lap of reality
Where I became increasingly aware of how much I wasn't
Observers and passerby's stood frozen in terror
As if they had been watching this comic tragedy in slow motion
A few even began laughing and figiting nervously like children at a funeral
I however, was much too preoccupied with the laws of gravity and the variable known as mortality to notice or care much of their interest...
(As is often the case)
Curiously though, the events had unfolded in a cinematic almost preordained manner
Which in turn, challenged me to nail my own declaration on the church house door
Hung on the fabric of eternity for all to witness and scorn
Left to judge the weight of the words and the earnestness of the soul
who had committed them into existence.

I am only thankful that you all have invited me into your family with such open arms. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people who are filled with phenomenal energy and talent. A wonderful sanctuary we have built... someday, we will make reference to the nights when we were young, sitting around, when this idea was born... this, in fact, may be the time of our lives.
