German rock singer Joachim Deutschland (born Christof Johannes Joachim Faber) was born in 1980 to a German father and an American mother, both of whom are successful jazz musicians.
Deutschland's dual citizenship allowed the budding athlete/musician to pursue a basketball career in California in the mid-'90s, but he found himself in the U.S. Army instead. His stint in the forces was a short one (one year), and his early and illegal departure from the country led to his arrest in 2004, but it drove the young artist to fully immerse himself in his music. He has released two albums, Ein Wenig Anarchie and Rock Sei Dank. ~ James Christopher Monger
