CDs ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH cdbaby.com OR BY CONTACTING FOREST CHOIR MUSIC at colljim@telus.net. Jim Serediak has been writing songs and guitar instrumentals since receiving his first guitar at age eleven. Self taught until his early twenties, Jim’s compositional and instrumental skills took on a more schooled outlook with studies in the music program at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta. It was during this period of study that Jim pursued his interest in classical guitar and electro-acoustic music as well, and also began cultivating a public interest in his music through appearances at folk festivals, on radio and through concert performances. These include The Edmonton Folk Festival, The North Country Fair, The Leonard Cohen Conference, The Full Moon Folk Club, The Nickelodeon Folk Club, features on national CBC Radio and CKUA Radio amongst many others. This leads us to Jim’s latest musical offering.
Jim Serediak adds "The Transcendent Sky" to his discography. With the musical input of Jamie Philp (electric guitar) and John Towill (fretless bass) Serediak has crafted a work of musical intrigue featuring his distinctive finger-style acoustic guitar and engaging lyrics. Songs of love, life and a deep passion for the natural world are interspersed with evocative guitar instrumentals.
"The Transcendent Sky" carries on in the millieu of Serediak’s previous release entitled "Some Kind of Divine Cycle" which explored issues of indigenous peoples, conservation of nature and Jim’s observations of the cycle of life. "Some Kind of Divine Cycle" once again features the contributions of band mates Jamie Philp and John Towill.
Previous to this recording was the release of "On Nature’s Edge" on vinyl. This album features the same musical friends as well as the drumming and percussion of Jim Ross, giving the music more of a four piece band feel. Guests Wilf Kozub of Wilfred N and the Grown Men and songwriter Bev Ross also appear. "On Nature’s Edge" is soon to be re-issued on cd as is Jim’s electro acoustic collection "Images and Reflections".
Jim Serediak’s discography is as follows: "The Transcendent Sky" FCM20081/"Some Kind of Divine Cycle" FCM19951/"On Nature’s Edge" FCM19881/ "Images and Reflections" FCM19882.
