Sounds Like
It’s the bipolar dynamic of Jetsetter that produces tracks so catchy that they stick in your head and beckon for repeat listens. Lead singer and lyricist Renée Dunaway finds influence in divas and flamboyant rockers, whereas musician Tyler Finck gets inspired by trip-hop hooks and cinematic instrumentals.
This combination spawns a sound with the infectious melodies, pop energy, and candid, uncompromising lyrics, all of which are present on their debut album, VasoVerga. Their tracks "Il S'en Va", "Save You" and "A Thousand Dreams" have been included on several TV show soundtracks, and have had international airplay.
Renée grew up in Connecticut, daughter of rock bassist Dennis Dunaway (original member of Alice Cooper) and rock costume designer Cindy Dunaway (Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, The Who).
Tyler was a Maine native, and took up piano at the ripe age of six. Since then, he's added a multitude of instruments to his repertoire. This, mixed with his refreshing composition style, led to touring with a band in high school and prolifically composing film sores in college.
Jetsetter was formed in 2004 when Renee heard Tyler's movie scores while they were film students at Ithaca College. She tracked him down and they began working together upon recognizing their mutual urgent passion for songwriting and their diverse, but complimentary musical tastes.
Thanks love!!.. It was so nice to meet you also.. Yeap it was unfortunate that we missed our Rope Yoga session and also going to the Blue Lagoon!.. But there will be other days for that hopefully :) ..
And yeah it would be great to go to NYC to get a look at your city and visit the states as well, for I have never gone outside Europe :p
Remember that tune we were doing for yer paterfamilias... ?
blimey, well... thought yer might like know that the splendour of our new tune 'Ballad of Dennis Dunaway' is now uploaded, and available at our Muffin bakery of musical delights :)
5 Bass players eh? Well after some thought, (I had to cover a few genres), but here's the ones I love... there's a lot of other great players out there, but these ones make me smile when I hear 'em... you'll recognise one of them :)
Rock : Dennis Dunaway, for the intelligent, imaginative, energetic, and atmospheric melodies, which show how the bass can totally subvert the mood of any song, very cool stuff :) http://www.myspace.com/dennisdunawayproject
Modern : Andy Johansson for Diablo Swing Orchestra, for his rather jazzy metal licks, *stunning* band, http://www.myspace.com/diabloswingorchestra
Motown : James Jamerson, the astonishing, one fingered genius behind hundreds of hits, hard to imagine those songs without him, http://www.myspace.com/jamesjamerson578
Punk : (well nearly prog!) The scary but brilliant Jim Smith of the Cardiacs, a disturbing but incredible band, http://www.myspace.com/cardiacsgarageconcerts
Funk : Bootsy Collins, a veritable whirlwind of hard-funky melody http://www.myspace.com/bootzillaproduction
All these people just write the perfectly appopriate line for the song, never cluttering but always enchancing and deeping the whole sound of the song...
Great to hear yer getting a bass player of yer own, looking forward to some fancy new tunes :)
Cindy Smith-Dunaway (Wife of Dennis Dunaway and intregral part of the early Alice Cooper ste up) will have a special radio biography and interview on March 18th, 7:30 pm Est (Canada), CFOU 89.1 FM. The show will focus on her career as a fashion and rock'n'roll designer throughout the decades, and more recently on her entrepreneurial career with her home decor store, Moon Hollow, in Wilton, CT. Plus something about the Alice Cooper band of course. To listen go to www.cfou.ca and in the upper right corner, click on the two speakers with some French words: Écoutez en direct sur le web (it means to listen...). Then select the software that you need (Media player 9 or Winamp) and click on the first French yellow line just beside the software that you need.
Thanks for the email ! Check out the new music at my space page. I'm sure that you're familiar with these voices. Happy holidays and mery Christmas to Jetsetter ! Patrick
Yer album arrived today, complete with extra graphics (cheers :) ), listening to it right now in fact,
I knew the song writing would be good, but now, with all this full quality stereo, I'm starting to appreciate just how great your voice is. It's an entertaining, imaginative and creative piece of work, enjoying it a lot, thanks :)
wow tyler, that mcdonalds guy DOES look like you! I'd do a double take, but there's no way your moves are as cool as that guys! :P Whats new with you?? i need a life update!!
i've been a long time fan, and i must ask 2 questions... 1) why did you guys change your name to jetsetter from vasoverga? i know its a cooler name but im CURIOUS!
and...2) did metropolis change when you released ur album cuz its different from when it used to be on your space way back...
these are kinda rhetoric questions so feel free to ignore them.
