I'm a thinking, feeling person, a "band", a member of collectives, a vinyl collector/player/peddler, a bike rider and a sister (and a "bro"). My favorite band is Chicago. I like green and blue and brown. And certain orange.
I've been planning FABULOSA Fest 2008 with the Fabulosa Collective for the last 6 months. The Women-centered Music, Art and Film festival is happening in Guerneville, CA October 10-12 and we are psyched to raise funds for charity and promote great art and music.
I'm also writing a collection of music inspired by Michelle Lawler's film about "the Lady with the Liquid Spine," Miss Vicki Marlane. She is a 70-something year old performer at Aunt Charlie's Lounge in San Francisco. The movie is called "Forever's Gonna Start Tonight." We'll be showing the trailer at FABULOSA Fest!

This is the incredible early stuff!
First of all, I have 2 copies of the famous first EE release (both 1st and 2nd 7" pressings) with hand made covers. These are really rare!
Next, I just got copies of different California Lightening 7”s (the noise rock pre-curser to Erase Errata w/Bianca on drums and me on vocals/guitar), including the first CL release with handmade covers.
Also have several split 7"s between Erase Errata and the Gossip, Sonic Youth, Peaches and many other greats!

Sure, her achievements in Erase Errata have been well documented and internationally appreciated, but consider the whole woman, not just the guitar/trumpet/vox monster. Musical projects abound, including the ukulele-driven Paradise Island and other solo projects as well as the recent CD Hallways of Always with friend William Elliott Whitmore. But at the monthly queer-friendly literary night K'vetsh, Hoyston goes Renaissance woman to become a writer and editor as well. Who knew?
