At the tender age of twenty one, Jenise LaVonne Walters is both a gifted and anointed psalmist ready to sing the gospel of Jesus Christ. With both parents actively taking part in the ministry, her father a Bishop and her mother a Missionary, Jenise's upbringing has been rooted and grounded in Holiness. The church became Jenise's secong home where she began singing on the children's choir at the age of two. To everyone's surprise Jenise's voice rang above all, and by the age of six she became the leader of praise and worship, ushering the presence of God into every service.
At the age of eleven, she began writing her own songs from the advice of her father. " I told my dad that I'm going to be a singer and he told me that if I wanted to sing then I had to know how to write my own material. I was so upset when he told me that, I thought, how in the world was I going to do that. A couple of days later I came back to him with my first song written, complete with two verses, a hook, and a bridge. I think he was shocked."
Her gift of singing eventually made room for her throughout local schools, church programs, talent shows, and where ever an opportunity presented itself. At the age of 13, Jenise spent one year under the tutelage of her vocal coach and accepted her first professional engagement as the guest soloist for a retirement banquet. It was there where she knew that she was anointed by the Lord Jesus Christ to sing gospel music.
"I remember one time I was called up to sing a solo and like many times before the wasn't anyone to play so I had to sing a capella. As I began to sing, the presence of God filled the place and I could literally hear music. I thought I was going a little crazy so I asked my mother how did the music sound and she said great. That's when I reminded her that there was noone playing."
Being Baptised adn filled with the Holy Spirit, this anointed psalmist ministers in song to fit every need. Her mission is to transcend every genre of life with the message of love, hope, and salvation. Jenise LaVonne Walters took her studies at Nyack Christian College where she majored in Music Business.
"I dont think I can remember a time where I wasn't singing, or didn't want to sing or write something. I got saved at an early age but I was appointed to use what God has given me before I was born, and I thank Him for this opportunity. I just feel honored and blessed that the ALMIGHTY GOD, JESUS CHRIST chose me!"
