About me:

J.D. Sipe is an award winning self taught artist from New Mexico. When he's not playing bass with  local blues bands he's working in his converted garage where he creates mixed media tributes to his favorite musicians. His work has shown in exhibitions and galleries in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, California, Georgia, Mississippi, Zurich, Australia and Washington, D.C.  His paintings have appeared in Shaman's Drum magazine, Mind Science Journal, the Collectors Guide, Raw Vision, Blues Review and Santa Fean magazine. J.D. was born in 1951 in the small farming community of New London, Wisconsin but has lived most of his life in the Southwest. The sights, sounds colors and flavors of the border region are a big influence on his art. J.D.'s other passion besides painting is music and he has been a professional musician for almost 40 years performing in saloons, dancehalls, honky tonks, taverns, roadhouses and night clubs all over the Southwest. He's had the honor to perform with blues greats like Homesick James, Wild Child Butler, Joe Huston and Buddy Ace. These days you can find him with the HooDoos or with the Lost Tribes of Mardi Gras, an Afro-Carribean drum crew.

JD...great hearing from you. Glad you got to go down to Mexico, even with all the Americanization going on. I try to take the back roads to avoid that myself even here in Georgia. Automatic weapons at the churches is surreal to say the least. Sounds like an incredible journey, especially the concert, dancing & delicious ice cream! Hope all is well with you and Roxanna in the high desert country. Take care mi amigo...Peace, W.D.

hey jeff - sounds like a great trip. 200 flavors of ice cream got my attention. i don't know who Guadalupe's guards are protecting. maybe the bosses think they can kind of slow her down, but i doubt it.

look forward to some juevos on the ranchero soon.

Yes, I did get to see Mr.Hooper. It's been about 5 or six years since I last saw him I think. And fortunately I was able to get another Hooper painting. You can see it in my pics.
I agree, Mr. Hooper's one of the best!!!

Dear Jeff, Thank's so much for lighting that candle for me and Guadalupe, thought about that the other day, that this was the thing I wanted to ask you to do for me and see miracles still happen, gracias mi amigo. I am glad that you enjoyed your time there with your daughter and family. Hey that ice cream sound's delicious, I am a total nut for ice cream...Glad you had the chance to go a bit outside of the City and see some ancient pyramid's, I love those place's. Make's me remember when I went to the sun and moon pyramid's in Teotihuacan oh man you should have seen me, I'm afraid of the height's so I really craweld down on my hand's and knee's to get to the ground again, my Mexican friend's they couldn't stop laughing, looked like a total fool.... But hearing about armed forces around the Basilica is sad new's and all the fast food place's oh that's to much. Can imagine how hard it is for the folk's who live there, with those high prizes, sometimes I wonder actually every day, where all this is gonna end with globalization and global warming all around, doesen't look to good for me...But I would still love it down there, cause of the wonderful people, art, color's and landscapes. Hope your having a safe trip back home and thank's for sharing your wonderful travelling experience with me.
Much love Manuela xxx
