coffee shops. and not just any coffee shops. coffee shops that are conducive to talking to strangers.
Part of why I left Seattle was that there were hundreds of coffee shops, but no one to talk to. Except for the crack-heads and junkies. But they'll talk to anyone.
I am activity focused: I like adventures. And you can make just about anything into an adventure, as far as I'm concerned. JUST GET OUT OF YOUR DANGED RUT!
rock concerts- live music of any sort.

good beer. in particular, Mac and Jacks. if you've never had one, you don't know what good beer is.

today I listened to Boy Least Likely To, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Modest Mouse, and a bunch of salsa music. That's fairly indicative.

Television
I try and keep my tv unplugged, because I have a fierce Law and Order addiction.
Books
Absolute favorite author of all time: Walker Percy. Bastard only found the time to write five novels, though.

It's my fault for encouraging them, but this week I had two elderly women make me blush:

If someone under the age of 80 would call me a handsome young Frenchman, I'd... well, I'd appreciate it at the very least.

Yes, NY Politics is horrible--especially when Hollywood is able to make political decisions, when Hollywood is able to choose candidates...very sad to see the utter stupidity and naivete of my friends, people I had respected, friends actually swallowing the empty, blind, solipsistic platitudes of a man that represents nothing but a failed ideology that has smouldered in ruins throughout eastern Europe, China, Russia, etc, an ideology that cannot work, will not work without destroying the soul of every man and woman...notice France, Italy, rejecting those ideologies--yes, it's because they don't work, it's because they deny our individual greatness, our ability to endure and prevail through our own free-will.
Louisiana ain't bad--and Jindal is a shining star in the sargasso sea of poor nominees. It is hot here though.
