Jarhead started as the brainchild of J-P Malo and Rory Verbrugge (later to be rounded out by Gaudry on guitar, Kevin on bass and Alex on vocals), who wanted to forge a sound unlike the douchebagery of their metal-core/emo conterparts. The emphasis would be on memorable and melodic riffs/leads (much like their oldschool metal heros) mixed with a very progressive aproach to arranging and tastefully virtuostic playing. Take one listen and you'll see a fresh and honest take on heavy metal songwriting free of clichéd, non-chalent references to death and destruction, or "my heart bleeds!" token self pity. No bullshit, just five guys, their instuments and 100% devotion to their craft and fans. So enjoy...
