Jan's Blurbs |
About me:
I am a creative consultant, artist and music producer. (I'm really a lot of things but those fit what I do to make money.) The most important things I do are help people and listen. To make me better at that I'm studying at Metro State College of Denver for a counseling degree.
My art is in a wide cariety of media - animation, drawings, tons of art done with computers, photography, music, song, paper cutouts and more. I do body art (henna art and tattoo design) professionally, mostly at tables at conventions and by appointment for private clients.
I worked for many years in the animation industry in Japan. Here is my bio dealing with anime. I go to about a dozen anime conventions in various places per year, where I do panels, talk to a lot of people, see my extended family and have fun.
Sometimes I plan and bartend events. Some of my parties are literally legendary, with people telling other people about them years later.
Sometimes people hire me to work with creative people. I bring their creativity out and enhance their productivity.
I produced Voices for Peace, an album for charity. Animation voice actors did the vocals and a great band in Chicago did the music. I sing and play the harmonica and guitar.
I do spoken word performances, weite magazine articles and speak at schools about GLBT issues, Asia and animation.
When I lived in Japan and Thailand I was very lucky to be able to travel to most countries in Asia, India and a bit in Europe and the UK. I'm fluent in Japanese (albeit rusty) and I used to speak decent Thai and marginal Mandarin.
I was married for 10 years and have no children nor do i desire to have any. (It's not that I dislike them.)
I like the desert and the mountains. I love road trips. I travel a lot, often any chance I get. I've been to 42 states and 18 countries.
I have 2 cats, named Hank and Dean.

Who I'd like to meet:
People who are relaxed and centered enough to be themselves. I don't judge anybody but I like to spend time with people who are real and who live life to the fullest. It's difficult to be around people who live as characters or personas rather than themselves.
