If you want to be involved then drop us a myspace message or email jamboreemcr@hotmail.com We are always looking for new people to perform so don't hesitate to get in touch. Events coming up:
8pm Thursday June 12 at the Klondyke Bowls Club:
Blackberry Shortcake
A gig to raise money for the Strawberry Shortcake festival, featuring:
A Middle Sex
"Fluxing between minimal scrape and pound rhythms to noisy tumbling weird jamzzz using there trashed guitar, drums and electronics, with the odd weird vocal splatter thrown in. This is fresh from the jungles of Manchester... it really gives me a jungle vibe - you'll see what I mean!'
First Black Precedent
'Having only played a handful of gigs, their Sonic Youth-inspired post punk has already got them plenty of attention. Fuelled by a love of shouty vocals, real ale and the ATP festival, this trio can't fail to impress.'
Gnu And The Shru
Charming and quirky songs reminding a little of the Vashti Bunyan and the better songs (!) by sixites singster Melanie (she did do a few dodgy ones). Over the past two years, the pair have wandered high and low playing the likes of buckets and burnt out bomb shelters in London, Berlin and even Lancaster... Now settled again tipping the shores of Manchester, they hope to carry on their mission sailing song-boats, collecting souvenirs from three legged deer's, and passing the shoe, informing all of the wonders that can prevail when one combines an oversized gnu and a shrew with a tail.
Serpentine Pad
'Hyper hypnotic alt-rock from this relatively new Manchester (5) piece. Manages to evoke such legends as Sonic Youth, the Pixies and Interpol whilst keeping those heads a' nodding all the way home'
2pm-late, Sunday June 22 at the Klondyke Bowls Club:
Strawberry Shortcake Festival
A festival of music which will feature 16 bands from across the U.K., all playing 15 minute sets. The day will also involve short films, art, food and handmade things for sale (!). So far the bands confirmed are:
Puzzle, Le Couteau Jaune, Plaaydoh, Peepholes, Les Enfant Bastard, The Lovely Eggs, Le Tetsuo, Buen Chico, Klaus Says Buy The Record, We're Not The Cool Kids, Amida, jam On Bread, Hoe Cakes, Wonderswan and Sparky Deathcap...

Sailor Tongue // Hotpants Romance // more tbc
Sailor Tongue are a band born from a mouldy basement somewhere in Leeds. Once upon a time obsessed with the Erase Errata sound (minus the cowbell), the band has now found a distinctive style of their own - layering powerful screamy vocals with dance punk fury and mayhem, singing/shouting about gender/sexuality, polar bears, domesti-gays, slagging off the too-cool kids at indie clubnights or whatever they feel like picking at.
This is shameless queercore you can dance to.
You've been warned.
'Hotpants Romance sound like they've got drunk on cheap cider, raided their mothers dressing up box and decided to have a fight in a biscuit tin. Best of all, not only do they sound fantastic but the ladies eagerly live up to their name and insist on wearing hotpants onstage.'
