I was born February 25, 1979, in Paducah, KY. I was raised, and have lived in Mayfield, KY my entire life.
My parents are Greg & Christy Hill. When I was 18 months old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 (or Juvenile) Diabetes. Very shortly thereafter, my parents had to learn how to give me insulin injections, as my life now depended on insulin to survive. Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes is a chronic, debilitating disease affecting every organ system-it is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its pancreas and permanently destroys the cells that make insulin. Once Type 1 Diabetes arrives, it becomes a life-long condition. But thanks to my Mother’s life-dedication of learning about this disease and taking care of me, and my Father instilling a winning spirit within me, I have control over Diabetes instead of it having control of me. I have done everything I have ever wanted - played sports in school, rode motorcycles, and have always been very active.
When I was 13 years old, my dad bought me my first guitar, a Fender San Miguel acoustic, which I still have to this day. After taking lessons for about a year or so, I had caught on very well. At the age of 17, I began taking voice lessons, and when I combined my talents on guitar with singing - I found my true love. I have played many places in our 4 state area (Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, & Tennessee) over the past 10 years. From weddings to funerals, Festivals and birthday parties. In early 2001, I co-created a band that did very well in our area. For the remainder of 2001 until the end of 2003, we played the bar and night club scene. In mid 2004, I was driving home from Hopkinsville, KY and heard a song on the radio that changed my life - “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me. It was then I realized I had a void in my life that no one but Jesus could fill. The song brought me to tears, so much so that I had to pull over on the side of the road. I told God then & there, “I am yours. Do with me what You will.” I like to refer to it as “Jace’s transformation on the road back from Hopkinsville” (referring to Saul’s transformation on the road to Damascus).
A few months later, on September 24, 2004, I married the love of my life, Jamie Inman. She had a beautiful daughter, Landann, who is now my daughter as well. They both support me 100% in my efforts to be a musician. A man called to ministry is nothing without a loving God, first and foremost, or a loving and supportive family to back him up. To them I am forever grateful.
After remaining faithful to my church, His House Ministries, for the next 11 months, I was called to be a worship leader at His House in August of 2005. I have been leading worship ever since. I have found that, no matter how much money I made playing in bars & night clubs, that NO AMOUNT OF MONEY can replace seeing someone come to know Jesus. Just being a vessel he uses to touch someone’s life is payment enough!
