About me: I am 35 years old and have lived in Connecticut almost all of my life. I started writing poetry at the ripe old age of 9 in 1982 and was published in a local newspaper with a poem entitled "My Favorite Color Is Pink".
Writing has been a passion of mine for a long time. I write because it helps me piece together this "puzzle called life". It's a great outlet for me. I also love to read about as much as I like to write. I am very partial to the classics like Shakespeare, Yeats, Keats, and Dickinson. My friends have called me "the weird one" because I have been known to bring "The Complete Works Of Shakespeare" to the beach instead of the latest romance novel.
I have had articles and poems featured in anthologies, literary magazines, as well as the net. I've also had five books published. Two on poetry, two on the debilitating syndrome known as Fibromyalgia, and one humorous book about the relationship between mothers and daughters in the early years.
Fibromyalgia is not a fun syndrome. It is a syndrome that effects the sufferer in many ways including wide-spread muscle pain and fatigue. Despite popular belief, it is not a new disease. Symptoms have been recorded since the 1800's and it was named Chronic Fatigue and Rheumatism in the 1980's. Some 6-12 million people suffer from Fibromyalgia in just the United States alone. It effects both women and men, however, it is more commonly diagnosed in women. Diagnoses can be a long and hard process for the sufferer since there is still no definitive test for it. I've had the syndrome myself since late 2005, but have suffered from it for many years.
Even though Fibromyalgia is not fun, meeting people who have been touched by this syndrome is. I am trying to do all I can through my writing, websites, and groups to help anyone who has been impacted by chronic disease.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who is open to me and my beliefs. I welcome people who are positive, who want to meet someone new, be friendly, and want to learn something new. Please do not try to deceive me by trying to add me for your own personal gain, you people know who you are. I'm not here to sell-- I'm here to spread some positivity and share. Believe me when I say that there is a difference! Deception will get you nowhere in life. This is my belief and I'm stickin' to it. Dear friends, forgive my rant but I feel like it must be said.
Hi there! Thanks for the comments! I have been thinking of compiling my poetry, but I don't know where to start, and also, I'm not the most motivated person on the planet, to be honest!! Anyway, I hope all is well with the family and yourself!
Kim, you are very sweet. Thank you. I'm a huge barry fan, and if you listen to Wishing on my page, which was started when I was about 15 years old at the height of Manilow's career, it sound much like him, singing and piano. It's all me though. It's my songs, music, lyrics, piano playing and singing.
Well, you added me, which can only mean one thing. YOu liked my music. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'd take a bow, but every time I do I wack my head on the screen. LOL.
Please also check out my top friend Alexa Ray Joel, she has done a few shows at Mohegan near you and is doing about four more in the next year so you may want to catch one.
