I am a 110 year apartment complex who has been abandoned and neglected. Last a small group of individuals tried to bring life back within my walls. They worked, cleaned, cut, struggled and sacrificed, just to bring the neighborhood where I reside back up from the ashes of shame. But in there battle with the forces of nature and man who have desecrated me, people became scared. They don't want more people here, more people means more trouble, even if it means sacrificing my home and a second chance.
What I want to know is if there is so little people here already where are all the fires coming from, the ones that burn what little life I have left? The ones who "care so much about this neighborhood" yet are not tiring to clean it up or help it out, and hide those who destroy it.
I lived a long life as a giant scattered apartment complexes for people and I've seen a lot. But now there is so much more these days I wish my walls could cry, to show the pain I feel about what has come to pass. I was a safe and beautiful place, with family's who cared. I can still hear all there voices here lurking in the halls, and rooms with the noises of what used to be. Happiness like no other. Now all I hear is nothing, and ever glimmer of hope is fading fast.
Those who truly stand up I thank, because I have a life in me too, I live on through the others who have embarked on the journey of living within my walls. I have been hear through pain and sorrow, through happiness and triumphs. Over 100 years old and still standing strong, I will defeat thouse who care so little. I will not let them knock me down.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who is willing to help in some way or another. I just want to meet people who are going to help me be a good neighborhood again.
Dear Souptown: Thank you for YourFriendship. My eight-year-old-peace-activist son Axil's quest for World Peace Before 2021 is gaining momentum! I'm so proud of him. Please embrace him AND his song "World Peace Before 2021" which he sings beautifully. His performance can be seen on MySpace, his webpage www. worldpeacebefore2021. com and/or YouTube (by searching his name Axil Kollist.) It is my intention to post a new video of him singing his song every few months so people can watch his talent grow as impressively as the momentum for his quest! I'm sharing two photos with you. The first is of my son distributing his free world peace bumperstickers and the second photo is of him singing his song “World Peace Before 2021” at Maui's Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Day Festivities in January 08. Best regards, Axil Kollist’s mom
