About Me....
Music has always been what comes most naturally to me. As a kid I started with classical choir music, continuing on with four years fronting a Vancouver rock band, and more recently working on a blend of jazz, rock, electronica, and everything in between with various writers and producers. In 2001, more or less by accident, I became one of a small group of original improvisational live electronic music vocalists in Vancouver.
..
This year I had two major releases with Swirlpeople - Freak for You and Lusicous, both released by Aroma records separately on vinyl and together on a Swirlpeople compilation cd. Coming in 2008, I have several projects on the go including collaborations with Lawnchair Generals, Ken Christensen of East Coast Boogeymen, Asad Rizvi, Max Graham, Massimo DaCosta, Andy Clockwork, and a new release with Swirlpeople.
Aside from writing and recording original tracks, I also sing live vocals with djs on a regular basis. From local clubs and events in Vancouver to gigs in Seattle, Whistler, San Diego, and LA, performing live has always been something that keeps me feeling alive and brings a human element to music in a club setting.
My other project is a little more organic. Bedroomstudio began as a group of friends all setting up their own production studios in, well, their bedrooms. Over time, it became a bunch of really talented people who get together and intercollaborate on tracks. "Sessions", released in 2005, is available for purchase through www.bedroomstudio.cc.
I work in critical care in the hospital as a Respiratory Therapist as my "real" job which I love. I love to cook and I have an arsenal of recipes. I own an apartment just next to downtown Vancouver. I’m super easy-going, known for being the one who is always happy and I’m definitely one of the social organizers in my group of friends. I’m always looking to meet great people in the industry or otherwise that are nice, funloving, have something to contribute that is meaningful to them, and who keep things drama-free!
I have just joined on in January of 2008 with apt entertainment. For booking info, please contact Nneka via aptentertainment.com/html/ingridhakanson.htm

Hello Ingrid, just writting to tell you that im absolutely in love with your new work with Swirl People. Sounds sweet! Greetings from San Sebastian, Spain Diego Villar (Edmund)
The first release on Forteana by Deep'a & Vek (with a remix by Chaim) was well received and played by a lot of dj's - the good ones anyway :) So, for the second vinyl release we made a sampler of the four upcoming releases. Artists featured will be EC50 (Holland), The Office (Colombia, remix by Tom Hades), Valyom° vs Mua (Belgium/Norway, International Deejay Gigolos, Teknotika,...) and Tek (Italy)
Enjoy! And don't forget if you're in Belgium on 19th April: Karotte is coming to Silo in Leuven (and Martin Buttrich). Be there!
Hi Ingrid! Loving your style.. Nice to hear a real singer on some beats instead of the all too often pitch-shifted weaknesses.. you are cool! Love ya! X BW X
