Sounds Like
Ike Johnson and his Roadhouse Rangers are a Country & Western revivalist band whose sound varies from the stark emotional strains of Jimmy Rodgers, to the hard-line Honky-Tonk sound of Ernest Tubb and his Texas Troubadours from the 40'-50's era, to the plaintive cries of Hank Williams and his Drifting Cowboys, to the swinging sound of Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys. In essence, they seek to encapsulate the sounds of REAL country music from the 1920's through the pre-"Nashville Sound" era of the early 1960's. When you come to our shows, you'll feel like you've walked into a Texas roadhouse back in 1947!
Ike Jonson grew up listening to the music of his parents, which was music by the greats of Country’s "Golden Era." Now, here he is in Nashville performing that very same music today. In an era of call-anything-you-want "country", Ike and his band consider themselves "Knights Templar of Country Music." Are they revivalists, revisionists, revolutionaries or what? It doesn’t matter...they are country to the bone and will remain that way, preserving songs, sounds and artists from certain oblivion. In a nutshell, it means they aren’t a Southern Rock band, "Kenny Keith McgRaw" wanna-be’s, wanna-billies, or punk-rock/heavy metal burnouts with pompadours...they are the "real-deal". Honky tonk country musicians like those from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s playing in a 21st Century world. Sincerity is the key, whether they are performing original material which flows seamlessly with the sounds from that era; or are playing cover songs dug from obscurity, it quickly becomes apparent that they aren’t pretenders. Come on out and see us, we’d love to have you!
Just stopping by to say HI and listen to your music....I am missing Nashville tonight....I get my Nashville fix by visiting our friends myspace and listening to their songs....LOL Hope to see you soon! Diane & Harvey Myspace Glitter Graphics
