David R. Mann was hired as Camp Director for Victory Junction Gang Camp on April 4, 2005.
David attended the University of South Carolina where he received his BA in
Psychology, with a cognate in Family Development. He received his Masters in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management from Clemson University with
emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. He also is a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist), and is an (ACA) American Camp Association Accreditation Standards Visitor.
As an Outdoor Recreation Facilitator/Trainer, he has taught courses in adaptive creative programming for a variety of groups, such as corporate management groups, University faculty & staff, special populations, and local business/civic
organizations.
David has diverse hospitality and education management experiences, ranging from managing a Western Steer Steakhouse to developing camp programming for children with diabetes, muscular dystrophy and other special needs.
He was a camp director and manager of Atlanta Council of Camp Fire, Inc. (a 200 acre facility in Toccoa, GA. Their summer camp was featured in USA Today Newspaper...July 1993). His Camp Director employment includes Clemson
University therapeutic camps, State 4-H camps, and consultant for various ACA camps throughout the US.
In 2004 he was promoted to Associate Professor for WV University as their State Camping Specialist and provided leadership for over 55 camps in WV.
David has served as Treasurer, Membership Chair, and Board member for AATH (Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor) and is a Certified Laughter Leader for WLT (World Laughter Tour).
He also is a professional storyteller and member of NSN (National Storytelling Network).
David loves outdoor recreation, campfires, working with young folks and sharing laughter with all ages...
David married his very best friend, Debbie in 2000 and have a 25 year old
daughter, Ann.
