Re-Elect Henry Lo for Garvey School District's Blurbs
About me:
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
Dear Friends,
When I ran four years ago for the Garvey School District, I promised to work towards a school district that our entire community can be proud of.
Since 2003 our schools have gone through a tremendous transformation thanks to teamwork at the district! We have successfully raised our district-wide API scores, established the district’s first nonprofit foundation dedicated to raising funds for Garvey’s academic and extracurricular programs, successfully passed the largest modernization program in the history of the district, Measure Q, to improve the district’s facilities, created after-school programs at every one of our campuses, created community partnerships to open two state-of-the-art community gymnasiums and launched a partnership with East Los Angeles College to open a satellite campus in the district.
All of these efforts will give our community safer neighborhoods, a more skilled workforce for our local economy, and better recreational facilities for everyone.
Tremendous progress has been made but we need to continue that momentum. That is why I plan to run for re-election!
With your help, I intend to push for further progress in our district schools by continuing to transform them into centers of excellence. We will match our newly renovated classrooms and sciences labs with a world-class curriculum that stresses a firm foundation in math, science and the humanities. We will also instill in our students a lifelong appreciation for learning and provide them with the skills and values needed to live and succeed in today’s global community.
It is because of this dedication to our community that I have the endorsement of Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero, Board of Equalization Vice-Chair Judy Chu, Assemblymember Mike Eng, Garvey School Boardmember Bob Bruesch, Rosemead Mayor John Tran, Rosemead Vice Mayor John Nunez, Rosemead Councilmember Polly Low, Monterey Park Mayor David Lau, Monterey Park Vice Mayor Sharon Martinez, Monterey Park Councilmember Anthony Wong, Monterey Park City Clerk David Barron, San Gabriel Mayor Kevin Sawkins and San Gabriel Councilmember Albert Huang.
As your Boardmember I pledge to continue to make our schools the cornerstone of our neighborhoods. Our success hinges on investing in human capital at the Garvey District and the community for the future. I encourage you to share your views by contacting me at (626) 280-4943 or email me at henrylo4garvey@yahoo.com.
